Why we need to pay attention, and target fixation:

Hopefully the rider was charged accordingly and held accountable for damages.

damn, he almost stuck the landing

touche...I was wondering that at slide 18-21.
He is lucky that was not a larger vehicle.

Bonus points if he landed in the passenger seat of the 'Vette. Seriously hope all involved are alright though. Never want to see these things happen.

sucks when this happens, we've all fixated on things. i was at the gap in august and there are photographers set up all over the place. its easy to get carried away and to make a memorable impression for a photo

It's the responsibility of riders/drivers to pay attention to what they are supposed to be paying attention to (the road, the traffic) and disregard what they are not supposed to pay attention to, like the photographer.

Only thing the photog did, was be there.

Do you think people who strike pedestrians who are in the wrong feel no remorse despite them not actually being at fault themselves? Yes, it's the driver's responsibility 100% to pay attention to the road, but that's not what I'm talking about.

If you yelled "HEY GUY!" at someone riding by, and he crashed after...

Also,

From Cogswell on advrider.com:
The really sad part of this whole situation is a local rider is now in the hospital in critical condition from crashing on the fluids left on the pavement from this accident.
Cut and paste from easttnriders thread,
"A messege from his wife, Mel
Jeff is now stable but still in critical condition. Injuries he has sustained include fractured skull at frontal lobe and orbital area, missing four front teeth with torn lip, facial reconstruction in the future, broken C1,C2,T3,L2,L3 and L4, broken ribs on both sides and collapsed lungs with lacerations to liver and kidney. Thank you for all your love, prayers, and support."

Very curious what type of helmet he had.

Damn, going through these photos is like watching the antelope being chased by wolves on the Discovery Channel... You know exactly what's gonna happen, but you can't help but look

Wow, that rider is so lucky the driver kept his cool and avoided the head on. Driver could have been killed by this riders stupidity.

There's a follow-up to this. After the vehicles were taken away from this wreck, another rider crashed in the remaining spilled fluids on the road, which were apparently not very well cleaned up nor was there any warning given of potential hazards ahead.

I know the local rider involved in the second crash. Very, very competent rider who did not deserve this. Get well soon, Jeff.
That is really sad, hope he recovers fully.

ahahah, poor guy
The driver of the vette doesnt seem to notice him even after the impact, lol

Are we all ******** for laughing? I can't stop laughing at it lol, especially when you see the driver's facial reaction go from =D to =|

I wonder if the first rider hit the same fluids as the second?

He went from full lean to full upright rather abruptly.
