Why the wave?

I'm hesitant to think of the reason someone would post such a negative comment about such a positive thing. The wave is a way of saying "hey, we have something in common, drive safe, brother" if you don't 'have time to wave' at very least give a nod of the head to acknowledge the rider. You never know which one of us will be the first one to pass a helmet set next to the highway to help out. don't be so hostile.

Guys, I don't have time to raise my hand a hundred times a day, so stop it already.

I don't when I past Harleys on my Jap bikes and when I ride my Harley, I get no waves anyway...a good thing.

Is it really necessary anyway? The Wave dates with me back to the mid '60s and it was meant as a symbol that all was well up the road ahead, especially with the propensity of cops looking out to stop any biker. That is not the situation today.

And if any of you E bikers wave, my middle finger is going up. Enough!

Anyone with me on this?

GO get a scooter you antisocial prick

:hello2:

Hello OP! xD

Just don't wave back if you don't want to, it's that simple. There are more important things in life to worry about than the contents of this thread.

I encourage no further posts on this thread as it has been discussed to death.

I declare this thread dead.

This is something about motorcycling I did not expect. U don't see car drivers wavin to each other. I think it's a great thing. It does not have to mean we are friends or brothas, but it is a sign of respect, like a handshake or a hello. If u can't wave, nod. If u can't nod, ignore. I try to wave to everyone, makes me feel good, and I tend to get alot of waves back which is awesome. See u out there. *wave*

We need 50 more threads about this before the summer is out.

I've noticed one thing about people who post threads about this...they always sound like their pis-sed off for some reason. Maybe they had a bad day or waiving at someone almost got them into an accident etc. To me honestly there is no excuse to not waive the other biker, other then not seeing the other riders, thats happened to me and i've seen it happen to the on coming biker etc **** happens, but to not intentioanlly do it thats messed up, i couldn't be in a happier mood or in a good mood to ride and also acknolowdge another rider, to me it really dosen't matter i do it anyways, its easy left arm out split fingers...peACE!, but it begs the question if you have to work so hard to ride a bike, what are you doing riding it anyways?

when im shifting, plulling the clutch in, i just knod my head with my two peACE! figers on the clutch lever. I love it when the other rider has the same enthusiasm, you know why because this way i can weed out riders i want to talk to or socialise with or not. Thats another reason i wave to see the other riders attitude.

to me throwing the peace sign is basically like saying i got your back if you crash, i got your back if i see a cop around you, i got your back as a fellow rider, and peace to you be safe and see you soon. I've even communicated with an on coming biker throwing the left peace, him doing the same, then him throwing the tumbs up for my bike, then me saluting him and throwing a thumbs up to him back going in opposite directions, so i think its not too much to ask to just say whats up. I've also tapped my helmet to on coming bikers 4 of the five guys didn't know what it ment, and got pulled over the fifth one saw me do it again for him, he gave me the salute and i looked in my rear view he slowed down and didn't get booked took another route.

I usually have no problem riders always wave back had a chick smile back and give a girly wave back today at a stop light, but i did have one really arrogant dude give me a cold stare and then look away as i rode past him in the lot knoding my head, thats where i knew the guy was a huge dousche not to be noticed again or talked to in the lot.

moral of the story, let those who hate waiving not waive, it lets happy attitudes stay away from the douschebags.

Sometimes I forget I'm in my cage and still wave.

+1... hahaha I do this as well LOL

Really, not sure how this can be that annoying to someone. Its a simple sign to fellow riders. Do what you want though.

i wave at everyhing... even cats

I'm derailing this thread into a talk about why we don't wave at cats more.

Sometimes I nod at cows if they acknowledge me riding by. They give me milk or in the worst case (for them) they're my burger, so the least I can do is nod.

Ah the good ole wave. Personally I'm a fan of the happy medium, I simply "nod" to every other biker as opposed to waving. I also live downtown and easily see half a dozen or more bikers on any given route that I take to destinations. I nod out of respect and to me it is a much more meaningful than a wave. But that's just me and I have no issue with the waving. It's a nice sign of respect that reminds you another like minded person is on the road which in the end makes it safer for "you" to be on the road.

I would like to add that the hate on the e-biker is plain rude. Some of us (like myself) found themselves on their 650cc's after driving an e-bike for a couple years. I know its a crazy thing to fathom that not "all" e-bikers are nut jobs. Anyone on two wheels of transportation needs to stick together.

I can't believe you nod to cows, they have like 3 or 4 stomachs.
As far as I'm concerned, anything with more than one stomach is just posing.

Cats, apes and pigeons get a wave. Bats and lemurs get a nod, one stomach so I guess they are ok.
