Why isn’t this in the news

Any want to attack the message instead of the messenger?

Who's attacking, its a criticism of your title. Of course the content is ******. You regularly post the dark/negative side of humanity & the net and I think you need to take a break for yourself & your mental health. Find some nice content to balance out the terrible things of the world.

EDIT - Don't get me wrong, I understand how easy it can be to fall into the rabbit hole of just seeing the negativity. There's a reason I limit my time to to stew at the ****** things of the world and try to be careful to not nudge the algorithm in a way that makes it all I see.

I try to post things to get people to pay attention to what is happening around the world and not just in your backyard. As far as my mental state, I’m fine no worries

That's gross. It happens in the States too. Young girls can be married off if their parents "approve", and it is argued that they are actually just forced into it.

For evidence of my first statement, here is an article by an organization trying to criminalize it it's run by survivors of child marriages in the US: United States' Child Marriage Problem: Study Findings (April 2021) - Unchained At Last

Here is a Wikipedia page for a less biased look (still gross though): Child marriage in the United States - Wikipedia

It happens in Canada too!

FWIW, no one attacked the messenger, they answered the messenger's question with sass. This is the Internet and that should be expected.

I'll say that I often see these stories, and they are always aimed at Africa and the middle East. They often don't mention the West or the East. They use strong emotional wording and breed a racist view of the issue. For those reasons, I did not read the article you shared.

I encourage you to always research the issue and "attack the message". But that means going a step further than stomaching the message that an article says and trying to broadly understand the problem.

I appreciate your response, but my post was meant to get the conversation started, I’m sure it happens more in western countries than we think

Just remember for yourself that as noble as that can be, it is not always your burden.

It does make you wonder why some news stories get traction while some are reported and forgotten.

Media often reports stories related to Islamophobia while Muslim cultural related topics like this don’t spark the same outrage.

I think social media as well as having 24/7 news has negatively impacted the news in general.

There is a rush to report “news” and generate clicks but, at the expense of journalism, researching the story and providing a comprehensive report.

It’s why we have opinions being expressed instead of news being reported. We have to be our own journalists now.

Media also throws **** at the wall to fill in blank time.

If it sticks they do it again, if it doesn't, they find other ****.
