Why are the most careless sometimes the luckiest?

Like many here, I go to extreme measures to keep my bike safe knowing that Toronto can be a very harsh place for theft and bikes in general. I always find it funny though that so many of us endure endless stress, worry and hassle only to have our possessions taken from us yet others just dont care and nothing happens.

This example is at a friends condo. This bike has sat maybe 25m from the garage door entrance for about 7 months now and has never been moved. It is not in a parking spot, it is not secured in any way, it is simply parked in a general area by the bicycle racks underground. I have no idea the situation with the owner and it is unfair for me to judge however I am simply stating an instance where a individual takes zero precaution and absolutely nothing happens. Other friends and countless forum members take every precaution in the world and still lose bikes within seconds. I myself have even went into a friends house for 15mins only to come out to find my car gone from a residential driveway in a good neighbourhood.

The pics of this very poor incredible machine....

I hope it doesn't....It just shows you how different people treat their toys!!!

Personally I like to keep my bike in a secret undisclosed location, under multiple covers, properly winterized but maybe I am just crazy!!:)

nah you just care

they say ignorance is bliss, and im starting to believe that more and more

Cmon admit it you're the one that wrote on it right ;)

Leave a sign with your contact info and want to buy !

You could just write in the dirt/grime that you are interested in buying and include a contact number!!
The thing actually has no miles either and judging from the tires appears to have never even seen a corner never mind an agressive lean.

meh, plenty of unprotected bikes get stolen too. I'm willing to bet unsecured bikes get stolen more than bikes that are locked up. By the same token, there will always be bikes that don't get stolen whether locked up or not. Let's just say it sucks either way

......

Whatever is chained or locked, it's worth stealing...

...and the guy is really facking lucky.

Wouldn't be suprise if that bike is a setup.....

Sounds like a Murphy's law to me.

I hope you never mention your friends location in any subsequent posts! "Thieves" may cruise this forum looking for their next target(s)

Dust-wise my 250 looks similar at the moment -- Parked since November but hope to change that soon. It is locked up/alarmed however.

Who cares? If it gets stolen it gets stolen. This persons luck vs that persons luck. Everyone is different and **** happens to everyone for a reason.

from what i hear all you have to do is post it on Kijiji along with address

but dam give that thing a wash first
maybe the thief have OCD and dont want to get dirty
