Valid question. Can confirm I have a weight (*ahem*) "advantage" as well.
I've spent a good part of Saturday and a few evenings after work bolting things on and wiring stuff up on the new ride now that it's been warm enough (plus some propane heat) to make working in my garage decent.
So far.....
- USB dual power plugs on the handlebars by my phone holder, wired to a relay that shuts it off when the ignition is off so there's no phantom draw.
- 2 new cigarette lighter plugs in the left cubby with constant power. One for heated vest, the other for whatever. Sometimes I want to charge my intercom when at a stop on a long day and I need a constant power source, so it'll probably get used for that - can lock intercom in cubby when charging that way and don't need to leave the ignition on. Just need to remember to unplug the usb charger from the cig port when done, that phantom draw thing again.
- Cup holder. Of the utmost importance. Must have coffee.
- Currently wiring a 40a circuit to the top box to run my various things back there. Had a small 300w inverter in the previous bike for charging stuff that needs 120v when motocamping and that proved super handy, so I'm prepping for that again with heavy power back there. Also, 2 more USB plugs for charging USB stuff - tent fan, USB lights, whatever else. Sadly I expect to be a CPAP user soon as well so I'll use it to charge my battery through the day for that as well when motocamping.
- Got the USB stick with a firmware update for the infotainment unit, but I'm afraid to start that as I've seen it go horribly wrong on friends bikes (speaking of Indians, that's another story) and since dealer support for these bikes is virtually nil it seems in many cases, I don't want to get into that whole ball of wax. Still thinking.
- Replacing all my "places I've been" stickers I salvaged from the inside lid of my top box onto the new one, those that were salvageable. A few didn't make it.
- Installed factory cargo rack on the top box. Interesting engineering discovered when I removed the cosmetic top cover to install it, Yamaha really thought these bikes out. Shame they abandoned them.
- Just waiting for new backrest to arrive via Shippsy so I can get that on as well.
With all that done, I'm ready to rock.
