Can't believe this article.
Cops wife hits 3 Kids riding their bicycles while her husband (York regional police officer) is there.
She is now suing the dead kids estate for 1.35million for the traumatic experience and the cop added an extra $100K on top for hardship they will endure.

I feel like I am reading this backwards as the kid she killed family isn't even suing.
I hope to god they get the book thrown at them and they have to pay that dame amount to the kids family.

Edit again. I was right. The ***** driving the car that killed the kid and this witness should get **** all. Bunch of greedy immoral ********.

The driver of the suv with headlights shouldn't be allowed on public roads if she missed 3 kids while operating behind headlights.

I guess after hitting that kid, they realise how big of an estate that kid is part of.

I hope they counter sue

That would make more sense. On advice of her lawyer. Can't ignore lawyer advice. "Hey it's out of my hands" and "Add another 0 woudja?"

Wow! That is disgusting, F'ing greedy idiots...I hope they get what they deserve & then some!

It is in a bit of bad taste but i almost hit 3 kids on bikes with my Car once.

They rode down a hill through a stop sign had to slam my breaks on. Pooped myself same them a honk and started to drive off. Then one gave me the finger. Got out of the car and proceeded to lecture them about road safety from behind me I hear an adult screaming.. I thought their Dad was going to rescue them..but nope he saw the hole thing apologies and dragged on of the kids home by the ear.. was nice change to see someone taking responsibility for their crotch fruit.

All i'm saying it while the suit is the worst worst of taste and the woman deserves public scorn who knows what the kids were doing. sounds from the article that there is more to the current story..including what might by cover up due to who she is related to.

There is more to the story .I hope the truth comes out .Driving at 90 km/hr as the driver stated she shoudn`t be out driving her headlights .Being let go within a half hour from the scene is not normal .While other witnesses where held for 4 hours .Stopping several hundred feet past the accident has me scratching my head .Did she even know she hit someone .

She was returning from a Halloween party .Did she have a few drinks ?Did her husband following her have any influence on the investigation ? He is a cop himself.

I hope the preliminary inquiry comes up with more answers .When insurance companies get involved they will spend money to get to the truth . Just so they don`t have to pay out .

This is nothing new actually.Off yourself by ramming into a guardrail and your estate will get a bill for the repair.

The question in this case is - why was the YRP officer's wife and him allowed to leave after just 30 mins? This is very unusual.. especially when there is a death involved.

Additionally, how much ACTUAL due process was observed? Or were they just whisked away so neither got in trouble...

On top of it all... now they are suing the estate of the dead kid SHE KILLED? You have to be kidding me.. the nerve of this (4 letter word starting with a c) is from another planet.

Kids were riding three abreast, wearing dark clothes with zero reflective surface anywhere on the bikes or themselves at 1:30 in the morning.

I live close to there and the side roads where the speed is 80, i can see being in that exact situation.

The accident was analyzed and she was found not responsible in the death of the kid. That ofcourse didnt stop the parents of the child, in their grieving blindness to sue her anyways.

Her counter-suit is nothing more than what any competent lawyer would have done.

You boys remember the story of the kid who got smashed at a bar, drove (or tried to) himself and three friends and ended up killing himself and the passengers? In his infinitive "everyone is to blame but my child" wisdom, the father sued the bar, sued the bartender and fought hard to enact a law that 21 and younger cant have any alcohol whatsoever even if they have their G.

Police estimate 90km/h? Strange they didn't estimate lower if covering up. Still 90 in 80 in dark and drizzle is not driving to conditions. Accidents happen. What happened after was no accident. Shameful.

This. She is counter-suing, and rightfully so. She was not convicted of anything at all, got sued in a civil action, and the rest is a result of the era of more lawyers in school than actually practicing in the 80's. They still need to justify their existence.

Let`s hope there is a deeper investigation .

If she didn't counter sue the best she would get off with would be only paying her substantial legal fees. By launching a counter suit she could come away having the dead kids family pay both lawyers. Also with there being two way lawsuits it makes "No comment" easier to justify when the busy bodies come snooping.

Just exactly where does this stand with regards to vehicle insurance? Aren't the insurers supposed to make all the bills
go away.
