our energy minister bob chiarelli about onts rising electrical rates 'ontario is lucky to have the amount of renewables that it currently does, and the price of production would come down eventually."
"it's like what you paid for a cellphone eight or nine years ago, what you paid for a big-screen television set before, what you pay for it now- the costs come down, the technology is getting better, the competition is very very tough and we,re seeing these advantages coming to us"

all this with a headline about our electrical rates to rise 42% over the next 5 years

the bit about technology getting better is about all he had right but that alone sure wont help consumers

this guy is higher than rob ford or he thinks that we are

end of rant-carry on

It will go back down in 5+ years by 25% after it has increased by 60%.
Government math, same as insurance companies.
Pump it up 50% then give you a 10% discount...don't you feel better now. They can always say but we offered discounts...see

Someone has to pay for that 1 billion dollar Liberal screwup with the Gas plants.... and they have the nerve to question Rob Fords' character lol......

Can we register a tree stump for elections? Guaranteed it will make the best decisions.

Definitely voting against the liberals. These are crack pots. Worst government ever. Worst than Harris. When I heard the announcement for the increase I was like how are people going to survive in Ontario. These guys make it sound like money grows on trees. I have employees who make min wage and I'm always shocked at how they survive.

I'm almost tempted to vote for Ford for Premier because there is a gravy train on the provincial level...

It's what they do, give false promises and tell the people what they want so they will continue to be supported.

I heard him interviewed on CFRB last night. The guy is delusional. He was crowing about things like renegotiating the Samsung deal, green energy policies, and said that they paid massively for the power plant cancellations because litigation would likely have resulted, otherwise, and have been more expensive.

- The Liberal government brokered the Samsung deal. If it was a bad deal, then it was they who screwed it up in the first place. Screwing up and having to fix it is nothing to crow about.

- The Liberals created a situation in which we were paying multiples of the going rate for so called 'green energy', or even paying people to NOT produce it. If the cost of the technology would come down with time, perhaps buying into it after the price drops would be the reasonable plan?

- The contract, for the gas power plants, involved negotiated rates of payment in the event of cancellation. These were mutually agreed upon and were lower than the amounts that the Liberals ultimately did pay out. Why would they not first try to abide by the existing deal? Was it because they wanted to bury their shame as quickly as possible, after making us all pay for the ridings that they bought last election?

Gonna buy/build a shipping container home and go off the grid!

You aren't the only one. Whether it's zombies or the Liberals, someone is going to try and cannibalize my life.

Pay your employees better, that's the first step.

I am buying all the LED light bulbs I can. They are cheap on eBay.

I made that mistake. I bought cheapo LED's to replace my halogen pot lights. Four have burned out and fallen apart in less than 5 months.

Sorry but isn't the issue paying your employees minimum wage? If it's that bad to them wouldn't it be appropriate to pay them better?

I don't know what business so don't know the details or costs involved to run it. But from my experience people making minimum wage are barely surviving and don't stick around much if it's even an extra $1/hr that they can make elsewhere.

I only ordered a few to see how they work. We'll see.

There are $5 off Energy Star coupons available which makes the 6W bulbs $8 but I am looking for 3-4W. The 6W is supposed to be 60W equivalent but I'd say they are more like 100W.
