The great whites have almost disappeared from the coast of cape Town because a couple of killer whales started eating their livers. Eco systems change all the time, it's not always humans fault.

They are back tho.

Great white sharks have been seen off the beaches here this month for the first time in more than four years. 29 Dec 2023

I was supposed to go cage diving with them on my last few days in Western Cape but 5m waves and gales put an end to that .

I have great news for you. You're way more likely to die during the car ride to the beach with your surfboard than by shark attack. Hope that makes you feel better.

That's why you move and live within walking distance of the beach.

Preferably on a granite headland....might not be a beach there in a few years.
