White leather jackets/suits experience

Nice jacket, be prepared for non stop cleaning! Dont get me wrong I got me a white icon jacket and I love it, but just like anyone who owns a black car will tell you that its work! Exhaust smoke will be your biggest enemy. Danier sells an awesome cleaner that makes it tons easier to clean white leather.

Hope this helps :)

You know I am right! One guy had pretty much black jacket with only two wide white stripes on the sides - freaking nightmare to clean.
My Spidi with just couple of white areas - I have to clean and condition it quite often.

I have white Icon Leather, it's not that bad from last year, few black dirt but not that serious, may be dry clean after season (2 years is ok)
well, truth is, red and black, red or black, I really don't think I need to dry clean ever

all my gear is usually white. It's super sexy for posing, but hard as hell to keep clean. And when you clean it a lot the dye starts to fade off and it looks bad.

Thanks for the answers everyone, very helpful! The bugs don't bug me, pardon the pun, but my wife gets squirmy, so no hugs for me unless I clean :(

Cleaning it is a useless idea if you ever actually plan on riding. I've rocked a white Shift Vertex for two seasons and it's a mess, but manageable. I ride outside the cit exclusively as well, so it's bug central. Just wipe them off once they dry.

As an aside, that jacket doesn't look like it'll protect you from a drunken stumble. You're right that you'll need added protection; you'll likely want to buy an actual leather riding jacket to wear below that one...

So we've discovered that white shows dirt (or bug guts) faster and easier than dark colours, and is harder to maintain as pristine white.

Thank Crom for the internet!

Harder to keep clean like others posted, but so much nicer on hot days compared to darker jackets/suits.
As long as it fits you well buy what you like.

I have a white leather dainese jacket, it looks really nice but hard to keep it clean and pure white. Have to clean very often

For the $45 that jacket in the OP's link costs.

I'd just replace it every season, and forget about cleaning it.

.

i use windex...lol

i use water and a paper towel to clean my mostly white jacket. takes less than 2 minutes to get all the bugs off and cleanish.

I think there's a misconception here. White and non-white are just as easy, or difficult, to keep clean. The difference is in keeping them looking clean. If your wife won't hug you unless your jacket is (looks) clean, how is she going to feel when she hugs your black-leather bedecked body while she's wearing her nice white angora sweater and comes off looking like a bug zapper?
