White Gsxr 600 on Pearl Street, a van has parked right against your bike.

you should still block the plates. if they need the orig photos, they can ask you for them.

My break is in 10 min. I will go and do a follow up. If the van has been moved then I will post the new photos.

have it always on your motorcycle , in your cap.

Would be funny if there was a huge truck backed up against the van...

Or the van was torched.
Either way, good Job Eug

Huge truck would not be good, the van would probly back over the bikes to get out.

the pictures also indicate that the driver of the van either did not even bother checking the back or the person just did not give a rats arse...

complete moron, deserve to get head kicked in

why? does it reveal the rider's identity? but out on the street anyone can see your plate...
+1 I never understood blocking the plate. If it's your own and you're doing something stupid, yeah take it out. If it's someone else's and they got caught on your camera doing something stupid... too bad. Anyone can see your plate in public anyway. Parking like that deserves this person's identity given away and maybe a few nice key marks and smashed windows on his/her car.

The analogy to that is you deliberately knifing someone because they inadvertently bumped into you on the sidewalk.

What's with this whole thugs-R-us mentality? Remove valve stems? Slash tires? Break windows? Key a paint job?

You respond to a bit of careless but inadvertent stupidity with malicious criminal stupidity? Totally asinine.

Um knifing someone is not the same as scratching the paint on their car. Also, running into someone on the sidewalk does not damage the property. If you run into someone hard enough to knock them down I would think there's a chance they just might throw a punch.

This kind of parking isn't just a mistake. It's someone not caring about possibly damaging someone's property and being a selfish a****le. If it's going to be that tight, park somewhere else. Simple.

It's like people that ding people's cars with their doors. 90% of the time it isn't a mistake so much as the other person just doesn't give a s**t.

I agree that they don't have to go that far, but the point is that the van could have run over a pedestrian instead of a bike.

According to flashmonkey the maroon van does this sort of thing often with impunity. What is the best way to prevent this from happening again?

And if the van had run over a pedestrian, then the van would have been subject to appropriate sanction through the appropriate channels. The pedestrian or his family or someone with a vague passing identification with the pedestrian wouldn't get the ok to conduct a vigilante stoning.

Regardless, the van did not strike a pedestrian. In fact, nobody knows for sure how the bike and the van came into contact. For all you know a street bum could have moved the bike. Yet here are a bunch of heroes ready to deflate/slash/torch/key/smash the van and one wants to beat the van owner's head in. And for what exactly?

Is that what was said? Here is the quote: "That maroon van is always doing some stupid crap in that area. Guy's a ******.... ".

I'm not sure how much I would read into that claim, whether in respect to the "habitual" actions of the van or even the accuracy of van identification. The van is only the best selling minivan in North American and rather common, and downtown Toronto is a gathering point for thousands upon thousands of vehicles from far and wide.

The only difference is matter of degree to the response. Deliberate malicious and injurious response to what again?

Yet the Op went back, took a picture and stated that there did not seem to be any damage. For that you want to smash windows?

Or that person is just careless.

So for a minor door ding which is an unfortunate fact of life in the city, you would engage in a deliberate vandalism spree in response? That makes you look a whole lot worse than someone who's simply careless.

One shows thoughtlessness. The other shows malevolence. I know who I'd rather be neighbours with.
