Whitby New Rider New Bike

Middle aged male - no photo required I take it ;)

I bought a 2012 BMW F800ST about 6 weeks ago, have now ridden 700KM.

No longish rides yet, I hope to drive up to Haliburton this weekend though...

I took the RTI course in the first week of July at Mosport. Rained most of the weekend, but good instructors and fellow riders.

It was strange though going to the dealer to pick up the 800 a week later. A bit intimidating but I took my time and rode mainly on my neighbourhood streets.

There were a couple of mentions of Royal? in Whitby - anybody have an exact location?

Happy riding,

Oliver

Welcome !!!

The address of Royal Distributing in Whitby is 900 Champlain Court. its just off 401 between Brock and Thickson. Its on the end of the street as GP Bikes

Congrats, great choice of bike - I demoed one recently at the downtown Toronto dealer, ride safe!

Welcome!!

Welcome to the forum! The Haliburton region is great, definitely make your way up there

Thanks for the greetings/welcome.

Oh OK xflying, right beside GP, should be easy enough to spot once I make my way down to GP. Thanks!

tricky, I did make it to Haliburton and then took a 2 hour ride on Saturday morning in the Haliburtin "highlands" -> it was awesome, especially as we left fairly early in the morning and the traffice was light.

Chungd, thanks I'm really happy with the bike. I wondered if I should have bought a 500 first and then step up later, but I'm happy I went with an 800 and this bike in particular.

Welcome, great bike! Possibly my next ride for the long hauls :)

welcome! LOL. pics please! ... (I meant, of the sparkling new bike against a background of lovely haliburton)! :p

Welcome! Cool bike that Beemer. As long as you use common sense and the bike is not too tall or heavy for you, you should be fine. Middle aged just means your throttle hand is controlled from above your shoulders, not below your belt line like the younger ones. Enjoy yourself.
