That's right too-his was the 2nd lightest of the bunch. I forgot. I know the older GSXR1000's are lighter than the newer ones. They just don't look and feel like it cuz they're a long reach to the bars and the tanks seem huge and bulbous.

Try a supermotard and you'll call the 600's heavy beasts.
The performance you gain on the track, you'll lose in comfort, as the katana is considered a sport tourer, so if you really want to limit your choice to super sport 600s, then enjoy.

in my opinion weight is the least significant difference between all modern 600s. rather i would go and sit on them, as each manufacturer has very different shapes for the bikes, although none of them will be "comfortable" when compared to sport touring or standard bikes. so i would find one that "fits" and then i would look at powerbands, some bikes produce next to nothing in the low-mid range, and everything up top, and if you're city riding you wont be u around 12k rpm most of your ride. if you're track riding then it may be something you'd want.
performance wise, they will all be much better than your katana. they will all be too much bike for anyone to take full advantage of on the streets (they're more than enough for the majority of people on the track).
i went for the daytona 675, as someone said above, it is definitely the narrowest of all ss bikes, that much i noticed real quick when getting on it, but the powerband is amazing, lots of power even in low rpm's. love the bike and wouldnt trade it for anything.
triumph daytona 675 weighs in at 356 lbs dry, and 407 lbs wet.

the 08 r6's appear to be very petite on the scale's, can anyone say if so... considering for my next one. believe yamaha r6's have been known not be that comfortable, any comment's on that too ?
footnote, alot of 675 fan's on here... does the bike sound good, 3cylinder's i believe, must be a different note forsure.

i had an r6, cant say it was any more uncomfortable than any other ss i've ridden.
as for the sound of the 675, i think its got a great sound. different than the i4 engines, yet not quite a v-twin... very tight sounding, no hang time after revs, rpm goes straight up and down. just drop by a dealer and rev one... but be sure to leave your cheque book at home... its more dangerous than walking into casino.
