Which generators?

Im guessing you were talking about paralleling 2 x 2000w inverter generators together to make 4000w.

guess what, most generators when parallel can only put out about 3200w 'continuous'.

its smarter to invest in a 3000w+ inverter generator instead.

But Im sure you knew that anyway......

You are correct on the continuous watt statement as with any power supply.

The rest is your opinion and not fact. We all have different needs and opinions.

But I'm sure you knew that anyway...

Op. Race tires need to be pushed hard to stay hot, so even with warmers, if you are not fast enough they will cool off and lose traction. If you want a tire that will last 6-8 trackdays, try the pirelli red stripe slick. Its made for trackdays and does not need warmers. I don't bother using race tires unless it is a race or race practice. I can't justify burning up a tire or two just for a trackday. On the red stripes I still run middle to top of red group on them. Day after day after day.

Depends. Some days I would have 1 set of warmers. Other days I would have 3-4 sets. This setup is versatile.

Curious why you wouldn't run the generators separately and take advantage of the increased max output of each, and what benefit there is to the parallel in this set up?

If you need to run somthing that's 2000w your 2000w max/1600w continuous won't do it so you parallel.

Or, save some coin and buy the Generac Inverter for only $589US shown in post 33 which is rated 2200w and 2000w continuous....

I kinda feel like you're dumb.

Why would you post the US price when it's actually available in Canada for less than what $589US converts to ($750CAD)?

That being said. I know Generac is big in industrial back up power systems but I am not sure about their portable power systems. The reviews on Lowes.ca seem to suggest that their reliability is hit and miss.

The US price was plucked off the link from post 33.

If you read back earlier in this thread, which you obviously didn't, I posted that I've seen these brand new in the box on kijiji for as little as $400cdn....

Ok so what's your experience with these generators?

And now I need to run somthing 2200w, and need a bigger generator....You just argue for the sake of arguing and your annoying. This is turning into the same stupid crap as the dodge ecodiesel thread. Stop it.

Hold on, those slicks aren't going to last an entire season. Your probably going to end up with less mielage from them than you expect. If you were to just save the slicks until your ready for them and spoon on some street rubber you'd be better off. If you plan to do 6-8 track days plan on using 3 sets of tires or more depending on your pace/track/setup.

The slicks will probably rot by the time I'm ready for them?

And Kijiji offers a warranty if it turns out to be an unreliable POS? What is your response to the customer reviews stating that the Generac inverter is unreliable? Customer experiences also suggest that the rated output of the Generac unit is actually lower than Champion/Yamaha/Honda and not higher as you (and the specs) claim.

$400 is a lot of money for a boat anchor.

Hahaha. Are you guys really arguing about what generator someone should buy? This. Is how you know it's been a long cold winter. And people need to get on their bikes.

They'll be fine if you store them properly. To just go to using slicks because you have a set that will last a day is a bit silly especially if you need to buy more equipment and make things more complicated than they need to be. You have to be done tech, bike on the warmers for 1hr before your first session or you can unload, tech, ride. Your trying to save $200 by spending $600.

Generators like oil is serious biznus. Now what oil to run in your generator....that will cause heads to explode!

This!
Make you life simple - The way to do that is a simple setup.

DOT tires
No warmers
No generator
No having to arrive at the track before 7 so you can be ready for tech before 8 so you can put your bike on warmers and be ready for the first session

Mo Money Mo Problems

I'm not arguing about generators. Im arguing about someone offering stupid advice ;)

I learned the hard way to just buy a Honda or Yamaha....after dropping $600 on a Hyundai- it was quiet, light, and fuel efficient. But wouldn't start....fouled plugs....drank oil......floats in carb always jammed up.
Gota a Yamaha and all was good.
Walking through Home Depot the other day I spotted a 2000 watt inverter genny from Ryobi for $600......anyone tried it?

Me too...bought a Hyundai 1250w fr9m walmart , ran for 5 rounds before it stopped making electricity. Motor ran but the panel was fried. Then I bought a used 2500w with a briggs and stratton motor. That seized up after about a year. Finally spent $1200 on a brand new yamaha EF2000 and haven't looked back.

Not only bulletproof reliable but truly whisper quiet, light, sips fuel, great resale.
