Which Bike should I get?

I don't even have my M1 yet, but I'm interested in riding. I'm 18 and I was wondering if this bike is a good beginner bike compared to the Ninja 250 and the CBR 250. I can buy it for maybe 1.5k cheaper (used) than a ninja 250 or a CBR 250. The max speed on the CBR125r is 125km/h, and most highways and roads in Toronto don't go above that. Am I making a mistake choosing this as my first bike over the 250s?

Also, Just wondering but what would insurance look like (per year) for a new rider like myself?

Start off with insurance.
Find out what it'll cost you with the various bikes and if you can afford the payments - some companies i.e. Jevco demand the entire year up front.

Just quickly looking at the flowchart, your age will be a huge roadblock to insurance - it'll be very expensive and you'll limited in your selection of insurance companies.

That being said, it seems like you have a feel of the price range of bikes.
Call/email some companies/brokers and get some quotes and see what happens.

The earliest break you'll get in insurance is when you hit 25 and some companies (I believe State Farm) won't take you without a full G and an you have to be a certain age. Don't quote me on this, I'm not an expert and I'm too lazy to search the threads for you.

Good luck.

Also I don't believe you can get to your M2 or M (forget which one) with a 125. They won't test you. Least that's what I heard.

Unless you are a flyweight the 250 is a better choice IMNSHO and there should not be much of a premium difference.

AFAIK unless you are prepared to deal with a 50cc for your first year ( Jevco needs a year so you will likely have to get facility insurance - the people at Weisner's in Brampton are very knowledgable ) you are facing a stiff premium as a new rider on anything above 100cc.
Then you can move to Jevco and a larger bike. My son did that pattern and it worked out okay from a cost standpoint - but living with a scoot the first year was a bit of a drag for him.
Also not sure how new you are to bikes but doing some dirt riding is a sure way to build skills that will serve you well in the future. Motopark in Chatsworth rents bikes and gear.

You also want to take the Sheridan Mcycle training course or similar as you will save on insurance ( course and savings are about the same but will save in the second year and the course is a good idea )

The 250 Ninja is a very capable bike, lots around and easy to sell when or if you want to move up. Docile in traffic and going slow but can wail once you get into the upper range. Excellent starter bike.
