Where you guys buy your gear?

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

try motorcyclegear.com
sportsbiketrackgear.com
kneedraggers.com
i have shopped with each one of them way cheaper than local dealers even after shipping and duty.

I don't know how they are now but I stopped dealing with Knee Draggers after a 'free' tail bag I ordered, using a chunk of my accumulated "Puck Bucks" from many previous orders with them, ended up costing me more in shipping than the normal price of the bag. When the partners split the guy who bought out the other partner decided that he couldn't be bothered to let me know they wouldn't ship to Canada via USPS anymore, and just sent the bag via UPS Standard.

These days I buy gear via GP Bikes, Kahuna, and Rider's Choice locally, TwistedThrottle.com and Competition Accessories online.

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

I'm all for saving cash and buying online is usually a great way to do so. BUT I want to warn you of my current situation. The gear I ordered is currently "International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs". It's been 3 days in customs and I've read that sometimes this can take 2 months. This rarely happens but if you add the duty/tax and potential customs delays, not to mention getting the EXACT* fit, it might be better to spend the cash locally.

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

Sorry...but can I just say that writing "where do you buy your gears" is the same as writing "where do you shag your sheeps".

Gear is already plural where necessary.

OK. I'm done now.

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

I've posted this up in a few threads, take from it what you will:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

The default choices (a.k.a. the "big" players), if you live in the GTA and have an afternoon to waste, in no particular order are:

1. GP Bikes (Whitby)
2. Royal Distributing (Whitby)
3. Kahuna (Toronto)
4. Riders Choice (Toronto)
5. Parker Bros (Toronto)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++[/QUOTE

GPBIkes and Royal get my vote especially if you are a shopper like me who likes to try on and see things hands on. I sort of have a bias for GP as thats where i got my bike from and Royal happens to be down the street, but GP price matches to the best of thier ability even online and i agree that once you become a local shopper, you get the royal treatment. I'm on a first name basis with tons of the staff there just after a few visits.

Enquiring minds want to know. Well some one must.

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

Cycleworld in Scarborough or GPBikes in Whitby.. I hate waiting for shipping.

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

You need a welshman to answer that.

I'm qualified to answer that one:

Pretty ones - anywhere
Ugly ones - round the back of the cow shed

I bought my rf1100 solid off motorcyclegear.com paid $12 in shipping. helmet cost me $350 all inclusive. locally they are $499.99 for solids before tax.

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

I used to just buy everything at Royal Distributing, but it all seems to be, for the most part, lower end stuff. For better quality gear I have been shopping at Dual Sport plus and my BMW dealer.

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

I'm looking for:

Sportbike "street" gloves, a new helmet (have no idea what brand yet, would love to try some different ones on), and maybe some boots.

Don't want to spend a small fortune, and I need a place that is open on Saturdays.
Also, don't care, london, toronto, kitchener, etc, as I live in Niagara, so i'll be driving a distance to anywhere, anyhow.

Thanks!

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

Jason Coolan at Sportbiketrackgear.com

ooooh ya that reminds me... my helmet and boots are waiting at the post office, I should pick them up

Re: Where you guys buy your gears?

I was up at gpbikes and royal a few weeks ago and they have a good selection. I've had good luck with ebay, kijiji and the for sale forum here. Anything but helmets are fair game used as far as I'm concerned.

There's Sturgess cycle in Hamilton, or if you wanna order out of the US you can use www.usaddressinc.com, The $5/parcel fee can usually be offset by getting to take advantage of the free shipping a lot of US companies offer domestically.

boots I won't find used...... (I wear a 14/15 shoe size)
Gloves..... eek, I don't like the idea of used gloves either.
Helmet, yea, i'm looking for new too, but I need a place I can try different kinds on. Want to try on a scorpion, newer bell (have an older one, and the new ones fit different), suomy, and a shoei.
Hard to order from the USA if I don't know exactly what I need for fit.

And yea, I was thinking about hitting up Sturgess in the morning before I venture further.
Thanks
