Where to take bike for adjuster/quote?!?!

Hey guys,
A car hit me about 2 weeks ago, and my bike (and me) saw some damage. The other guy got charged and I was not at fault. Insurance will be covering pretty much everything.

I called yesterday, and they want me to drop off the bike at a motorcycle shop for a quote. They didn't tell me where. They said I have to figure out where to take it.

So my question is…where the heck should I take the bike? I was thinking Mississauga Honda Powerhouse, but that's about an hour drive from me (i'm in Markham).

I'm pretty sure it's a write-off, but if it's not, I prefer a reputable shop to do the necessary repairs.

Any ideas? Are they going to hassle me if I get it towed to Powerhouse Sauaga?

Many thanks.

If you want the highest quote you can get take it to the dealership as they dont repair broken parts they replace them.
Thats the best way if you want it written-off or want to take a cash payout.

Go to Stunters INC, they did mine a few yrs ago, stand up guys

I've arrange for Markam Outdoor power to pick it up tomorrow.

Are fairings repairable? both sides are cracked and scratched up. I don't think most of the other parts are irreparable. They SHOULD be replaced for safety. Also got a mini (super mini) dent in the tank....i wonder if they will fix it. I'd probably have to point it out.

I took extreme care of my bike, and hate to see it like this. In a way, i hope it gets written off because it just won't feel the same to ride something that I put so much love into. Not sure if you guys can relate…just not the same.

This is NOT my bike…but looks identical except EVEN CLEANER!

If insurance is paying for it get them to find every little mark on the bike.
Fairings can be repaired by plastic welding or fibreglassing it but if insurance is paying for it then try to get them to replace them with OEM fairings.

Thanks for the input. I'll take pictures of the the bike and circle everything.
How would I get insurance to replace instead of repair? What happens if the pair job it not done well and noticeable?

If you take it to a local Honda dealership They will not repair anything on your bike there, they will replace it. I had a dent in my devil midpipe and since Devil went out of business they had to quote a new Hindle exhaust and midpipe, For the scratches on the fairings were super minor and they said it needed new OEM panels.
Be weary though as the quote there will be extremly high so it could push them to not repair it by writing it off or giving you a less amount of cash payout and have you repair it yourself.
I took the cash payout on mine and pocketed $1500 after every repair was made including new chain and sprockets that just needed to be replaced and not damaged in the accident.

I see. Thanks for clearing that up.

I guess I would be interested in two options:

1) Get a lesser cash payout and try to sell the bike/parts
2) Have it written off.

I wont be taking it to the dealer. I already arranged for Markham Outdoor Power to pick it up tomorrow.
My hindle pipe also has a big dent and scratches now and definitely not repairable. A piece of plastic is also jammed into the chain :( poor thing.

Let's see what happens.

What are the ODDS that the dealership would stock those items, if you want it fixed to mint, bike might be written off...

Of course the dealership isn't going to stock every part for every bike but they can order you any part from any of their bikes.
But if you take the cash payout you can buy cheaper and better aftermarket parts and pocket the rest :D

Markham outdoor came and picked it up. $9,700 to repair it. Frame, rear rim, swing arm, handle bar bent along with all the other cosmetic stuff. :(

That sucks, Best bet is try to to see how much you can salvage fromt he bike to part out and see what they will offer you as a cash payout and see if you can make more that way?
They might give you a couple hundred dollars less and say keep your bike and if you can get over say $1,000 for parts off it that might be the way to go and then you will come out higher then taking the money for the write-off.
Your decision in the end just throwing out ideas for you to think about.
