Kijiji is great.
The reason why you might think it sucks is that it seems the same bikes are on there forever. That's because all the smokin' deals are gone within hours.
Exactly, the bikes that stay on kijiji forever are only there because a) the guy is asking too much or b) it has something wrong with it that he doesn't reveal until you email him. You do have to be quick and reload the page several times a day if you really want a chance to score a good bargain.
I got my bike my the same way as Denden, i had a custom search set up for the kind of bikes and price range i was looking for, then one afternoon one came up $500 less than every other ad for similar bikes on there, i was the first person to view the page (the counter shows on the bottom) so i emailed right away, and said i would show up with cash the next morning, which i did. I was cautiously optimistic thinking for the price i got it at there would be something wrong with the bike, but so far nothing, it runs perfect. When i had Rosey Toes come to safety the bike he said it was easily worth double what i paid for it, in fact he offered to buy it. So i scored for sure. The people simply wanted it out of their garage to make room for another car and didn't care that they sold it for less.
I still visit Kijiji several times a day even though i'm not on the market to buy anything right now, because i like to see whats out there. And there are some amazing deals that come and go fast. A couple of weeks ago i saw a mint looking 2006 1100cc Yamaha V-star on there for $2000, that's at least 3 or 4 grand less than similar bikes sell for, and the ad was gone within the hour, so someone scored on that one too i'm sure.
