where to buy engine ice

What's a radiator?

:D

Wrong thread for you! hahaha... ;)

Jamie, sucks about the surgery. I probably wouldn't risk it myself (well, I won't be...) but I certainly understand why you'd want to. Take it easy though.

Thanks Dave :) I'll have my GoPro recording, so should provide some good footage, crash or otherwise :) Sucks my track timer ain't waterproof, my china cameras probably not either, but oh well.

What the heck is engine ice.. And what does it do?

It's a propylene glycol based, rather than the normal ethylene glycol based coolant. They claim better cooling and it's somewhat easier (read that as 'possible') to clean up if spilled.

Any actual difference in cooling? Any hardware issues rust leaks etc. M looking for a better coolant for street use

They say it cools better. It for sure isn't any WORSE than pre-mixed coolant. No problems with aluminum radiators/corrosion, etc. Tons of street riders run it.

Lock this ***** now. "if we don't learn our history, we're doomed to repeat it". Budum, budum.

??? What are you talking about?

He is talking about the fact that dumb people keep asking about and putting engine ice on their track bikes and when they crash they ruin the day for everyone that paid, got up early and set camp just to have the track close for hrs because some dumb *** was to lazy to flush his coolant and get some water with water wetter.

We are not talking about street bikes, after all this is the track/Race forum.

Motul's MoCool is now track approved, and a good alternative to Water Wetter as it includes some corrosion inhibitors and does not go dark and grungy. No frost protection though.

What's the best option OK in terms of cooling?

For a STREET bike ... In many cases, Evans NPG waterless coolant. Boiling point is 375 F and it operates at atmospheric pressure in the cooling system. Because the boiling point is substantially higher than normal cooling system pressure, it will not allow vapor pockets to build up when you get stuck in traffic. Because it operates at zero pressure (you block open the vacuum relief valve inside your radiator cap so that it vents through all the time) it will not get forced out of the cooling system when the engine gets hot and WILL allow the coolant to be drawn back in when you start getting air circulation through the radiator again. Thus, it won't get the tendency of a street bike to overheat in traffic and then be at least partially unable to recover until you stop the engine. It will NOT make the system run cooler ... in fact, it will run slightly HOTTER, but it will do so without boiling over in traffic. Using this coolant requires all of the prior water+coolant mixture to be completely purged out of the system.

For a track bike, Evans is not an option. Water + WaterWetter or equivalent (there are a couple of other brands) is the best choice.

not every track or organization allows it. before using it, people need to check the rules of their track day/race organizer.

People.

Just use what we know works. Water with water wetter.

For your street bike fill the damn thing up with the latest and great AMA Supercoolsuperfly coolant.
For the track, if you use anything else but whatever the organizer has listed be prepared to have 50 guys want to punch you in the balls.
