where to buy a pop-up tent for resting during a track day?

The key to canopy life...

o) burn four cans of VP fuel (preferably in motorcycle)
o) fill empty cans with water
o) tie canopy corners to cans
o) $profit?

I went to the Wall-Mart at Heartland for something else..... but they had their standard pop-up canopies on sale for $49.98. Just put it together and tried it out in the backyard, pretty good considering the price.

it's a 9X9, btw.

That's the smaller one Brie 99 buck ones are 10x10 and are built better ( my 2cents)

I would avoid the big box stores and go with an EZ-up or Impact canopy.
Last year I went through about 12 canopies, more aggravating then the financial waste was the fact that they would normally break at the worst possible time causing a lot of stress (and once knocking over someones bike that I had to repair)

I think their entry level steel canopies are priced around the $350 last time I checked.
Just my 2 cents on the matter. Keep in mind I "attend" (but never get time to ride...dammit!) more trackdays in one month than the average trackday enthusiast does in a season. So I demand a lot more out of my equipment than most.

Who are you??

The Caravan canopy at Costco is a slightly cheaper version of what you can get directly from Caravan (aluminum vs steel I think??) located in Concord so driving distance if you're near GTA.

Caravan is also in the tent rental business. If you go to their Concord store, you can some times pick up nearly new ex-rental canopies for a great discount compared to a brand new one. And if you sweet talk them they'll throw in a carry bag too :) They're great people to deal with if you have any issues with your canopy as well.

A wallmart canopy might be a great quick fix but it's not a sturdy structure, yes you do get what you pay for it's as simple as the cost and quality of the materials that goes into the build. It might be great on a nice sunny day, but a good gust of wind (even if your tent is secured) and you'll start seeing some of the skeleton breaking.

Canadian Tire has a sale on the Broadstone tents for $119. Looks like they also come with side flaps and a carry case too.

I'm not sure if the canopy a friend bought from costco is the caravan one or not (i didn't look at the brand), but i wasn't impressed, the center support was that flexible fiberglass tubing you see in tents, it seamed rather flimsy.

I have a Yamaha canopy I'd sell. To weight it down.....use the blue water containers from Cdn Tire and your generator, or one corner with your car.

Sets up easy easy easy ( a one man job - never seen a woman set one up but I guess it's possible) Great quality.
Oh no... we can't put up tents... what were you thinking

my Wal-Mart lasted exactly 1 year to the month. so I bought a used EZ-Up for slightly more, Ken (Kneedragger88) is putting up a group buy for something similar to an ez up.... get it!

Ended up in a surplus farm store in Wisconsin a few years ago. Ez-up solid colours were $69.99. I bought two and they have survived. I use water jugs on the corners.

Keep your eyes open, there are great deals to be had.

I have the 49.00 one from Walmart..... I have used it for about 4 track days with no issues, as others have said when wind picks up its good to make sure its strapped down....sometimes if its real windy I will even lower it down.....

Of note* I am female and put it up just fine on my own...LOLLOL

Mine lasted exactly 12 days of use. So you have about 6-8 days left on it before any bends or rips occur. The problem with the design is that the legs are angled, so it's more likely to collapse in heavy rain/wind conditions.

We have one CDN Tire Boradstone and one $99 one from Walmart...both have last 2.5 racing seasons ( thats friday, saturday, sunday, for 15 weekends, rgardless of weather) and 8-10 trackdays.......we also left one setup in the backyard for half a summer, not even tied down.......and I have used them at work on rainy days to setup my tools under as well. Both are beginning to show signs of wear from the canopy flapping and chafing along the framework, but both still function fine so far. I will be replacing at least one this upcoming season.
