Just did a 4 day trip to the states. The Snake, Deals Gap, Chattanooga, and Louisville (in that order), 3400km total

The Thanksgiving weekend brought us to Letchworth State Park. Pictured here is the Genesee River seen near the North Park entrance near Mt. Morris.

There was a huge craft show on during the weekend (U.S. Columbus Day) so lunch at the Inn was out of the question.

After the park we headed south to Hornell, there were no rooms available so off to Wellsville for the night. As morning broke we took scenic Hwy 417 through twisty and hilly Amish country then north on Hwy 21 to Canisteo.

We continued along Hwy 119 a very scenic ride also called Canisteo River Road to Addison.

After meandering through the foothills north of Addison, passing through Bath, we continued on Hwy 54 to Hammonds-port and followed 54A along the Western coast of Keuka Lake to Penn Yan.

At Penn Yan we took Hwy 364 westbound to Canandaigua following Canandaigua Lakes eastern shore. We woke up to rain so the coast of Hemlock Lake was scrapped as we slogged homeward on Hwy. 20 to Erie then through Jordan, Vineland, Grimsby and home. This was a fantastic ride and would recommend Letchworth State Park and the Finger Lakes to anyone that craves a change of scenery from Ontario roads as the terrain is mostly hilly with lots of twists and bends. //

The last few weeks, just Ontario (Chatham, London, St. Catherines, Barrie), and Germany (Heidelberg, Bremen, Magdeburg, Paderborn).

Counting since the date of the first post however, add England, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland.

Recently back from a 2 week 3,200 km. tour of the Alps on a Triumph Tiger. The bike ran and shifted buttery smooth; 3 cylinders makes a whole lot of sense. The riding and scenery were outstanding. If there is only one touring trip you could make, this is the one you should do! The big downside of this tour? Coming home to realize how boring Ontario roads really are.

I strongly recommend knopftours.com, in Heidelberg. They rent bikes, ship them, arrange your insurance, etc. I shipped over a bike and store it with them.

With 10 times the number of bikes registered in Europe compared to North America, there are tons of bike dealers who also rent, but its good to speak/read in the local language(s) when hunting for rental places on the internet. I rented from München (Munich) Triumph AKA "Rock n' Ride", the Tiger had side cases also (not easy to find). München is a great location since its an international airport hub (direct flight from Canada) and its only an hour away from the Alps. Also stopped in Motosport Niedermayr in the Italian Alps to buy awesome rain gear you can't get here; they rent KTMs (eg. 1190 Adventure ABS for 550 Euro a week including 1,500 free km) and Kawas (eg. Z1000SX ABS or Versys 1000 ABS for 450 Euro). All taxes included, unlike here. And if you go, don't even think about going without a GPS loaded with European maps; this was a huge time saver. The Zumo is highly recommended for bikes; a ridiculous price but well worth it in the end.
