Where do you store your... takeout?

PS....though I don't fully condone this comment, I do find it amusing...

"Givi is like the herpes of motorcycles" and "one of the best theft deterrents".

Probably read it on GTAM....cute stuff...but when you gotta store stuff, you gotta.

Just swap your bike for that NC700 thing with the storage compartment where the gas tank would normally be.

I often get takeout in containers that can't be sealed, like styrofoam boxes, and stuffing it in my backpack is not really an option, for what I hope are obvious reasons.

I do not want to get a topbox because it's just overkill and rather awkward looking IMO. So.... I was thinking of the Axio tail bag. It's got a semi-hard top, is reasonably sized at 14'x14'x6.5', and doesn't look like most of the tank bags that have 80's styling.

Anybody have experience with this tail bag (I've already gone through a handful of reviews on the web), or have other practical suggestions for carrying takeout?

If I'm grabbing take out, I just put it in my tank bag. The key is to make sure you wrap the food in a plastic bag, so if it does spill it's still all contained. But I also try to avoid anything really saucy.

My tail bag.

In Nth America, sport bike riders mainly seem to have backpacks, where as in Australia/NZ and Europe, sport bikes often have tail racks for a tail bag. They can be removed for when its not needed. I think its because here, motorcycling is considered a "Sport".
If you have two side saddles, thats enough of a platforrm to bungy a pizza box to. Done that :)

This type of rack is very common downunder for sportbikes etc.

weaksauce people.

Bonus points for penache. I used to do this with Blockbuster rentals but the wind would blow the DVD cases back into the brake lever and slow me down. The faster i went, the more I felt resistance from the front.....until it dawned on me!

I wanted to start a helmet hair thread: my hair gets flat and tangled at the ends- can you help me?.

Sure. The cruiser crowd sometimes sells a strip of leather in various lengths (according to your hair) that snaps together to form a tube that goes around your hair holding it in a rigid ponytail. It looks good and comes right off. It's easier than a bunch of hair ties.

Get a magnetic, expandable tank bag and leave the stupid backpack with the skateboard crowd. I never understood why anyone wants to ride with extra weight on their back for no reason.

I use a backpack instead because when I get to whereever I'm going I'd have to pull the bag off, anyway, or someone would steal it or anything I left inside it. Otherwise I'd just be pulling my tailbag off at every stop.

This is the extent of my creativity before I got my top case... For some reason, people were looking at me funny (including cops I drove by).

Just last week I carried 2 bottles of wine in my jacket. It was for less than a block, but hey, it can be done.

To the OP, I've carried takeout in my tank bag. Might want to put styrofoam stuff in a plastic bag first though, just in case.

1. Eat it, then ride.
2. Don't go to places that give you styrofoam boxes.
3. Get a burrito :P

$150 is pretty steep to be able to bring food home...

If you're just bringing an average sized chinese food styrofoam box, this would probably do - I got mine for like $25 on amazon: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/14/71/986/19182/ITEM/Joe-Rocket-Manta-Tail-Bag.aspx (This is the one I have although I usually just stuff things in my backpack). It also has a rain cover but I don't think that would matter cause from what I remember, you don't ride in the rain anyways.

Keep in mind, it can't carry much... Looks a lot bigger in the pics. Will probably fit one box or a pair of size 7 flexible shoes.

Mmmmmmm burritos. Best answer yet. Mine would be a good tank bag or any of the above answers from PLau.

Not scissors and even has racing stripes. Do it! :lmao:

Kuro... I do like that it costs nothing. The sauciness of my takeout would not endure though!

BuckWild... yes, now that you mention it I should start a thread about helmet hair! And... I didn't start any thread about getting my bike wet. Troll harder.

Awyala... true re: Givi's being theft deterrents.

Tank/tail bags it is.

I have a joe rocket manta xl for the tank that surprisingly holds a ton of stuff if needed and honestly doesn't really get in my way like I thought it would.

I recently found out my tank bag hold exactly 12 cans of beer with no room to spare.

What the hell kinda tank bags are you guys getting? Mine barely holds 6 and it was the biggest one I could find at Royal

That's because Royal has junk for bike luggage. I have a no name bag that cost $50 and is better than any name brand I have yet to see. I looked through a few catologues at a bike shop and ordered the best one for me.

Givi ftw, once you start using one, you completely forget about how hideously ugly it is.

PS, an E52 can hold a medium pizza without issue!
