Where did you ride today? - New rider version

Actually went with a couple other guys and someone else lead. But he had a tank bag with a map pocket. He basically wrote down the directions.

"Continue on street A for 6.8km's then turn right at street B."

and so on. I do plan on getting a RAM mount though.

Couple of things:

1) The guy I knew who got lost on rides the most trusted his GPS's directions.

2) Sometimes the most fun you have, and the best roads that you find, are when you get lost ;)

Haha cool. I was struggling on the way home with this ride. My butt was numb, my legs felt cramped, just all around exhuasted. It was my first time riding for this long though.

You just tacked another 2 hours onto the ride, I don't know if I would have been able to handle it!

I agree about the GPS thing as well, it's fun to explore. I might get one of those map holders and use my phone as a map guide if I ever get lost.

you are young your butt can take it ;) ...

its about taking good rests and enjoying the ride :) I could give you a few other 7 hour rides. just think, the bigger the group the longer the ride :)

Earlier this evening, I rode along Sulphur Springs/Mineral Rd; off Wilson St., Ancaster. It was my first time there on motorcycle (Ninja 250). I was definitely cautious; took my time. (At one point, I even pulled over to the right to let some cars pass. I was in no hurry). And, I'm sooo glad I did! Looking ahead, I saw deer crossing. In total, there were about 5 or 6! I was able to pull over. I wanted to take a picture with my cell phone. I should have turned off the engine. Oh well.

I didn't stay in this area very long. I was riding towards the sun, and it was pretty blinding sometimes. It was still a good ride with another reminder of how careful and alert I need to be, at all times, when riding.

On the way back to Wilson St., a motorcycle pulled up behind me. He proceeded to pass me, and the car in front of me, crossing over the solid, yellow line.

Got back from a week in Algonquin Park today. Since I'm still on my M1 I went around the other side of Lake Simcoe on Hwy 48 back to Richmond Hill, instead of the 400. The best part when in the Lake of Two Rivers campground I took a shortcut through the bicycle path to get from the campground to the store lol.

While I was camping I did a bunch of riding around the Whitney area. One day I decided I'd try for Ottawa though I'd never been and didn't really know the way there. After following the Ottawa 250km, Ottawa 200km signs on Hwy 60 I ended up making a wrong turn and wound up in Pembroke. Finally admitted defeat and consulted a map in the local Canadian Tire and decided to head back. I took the delightful Hwy 41 on my way back which is my favourite road that I've been on so far.

bored at home today so i jumped on the bike and went up lakeridge rd and stopped at hy-hope farm, they had a 3 piece band playing, then back home, fun little ride.

Rode to River 3 restaurant in Cayuga for breakfast this morning. Stopped in Caledonia and then took Hwy 6, and the Linc home. It was a great morning for a ride!

I did this route on my own today. For a 4 hr. or so ride we've used this route a few times with newish riders in tow, it's not absolutely "new rider" friendly but it mostly is. Where you choose to make the starting point is up to you... :)

From today's ride, Fenlon Falls:

Well this pretty much sums up my first bike and first weekend of riding in Canada.

Fantastic first weekend of getting used to the bike. Picked up on Saturday. Had a ride round Whitby / Oshawa initially and then headed off up to Little Britain, for no other reason then the fact i'm British and wanted to get a pic of the bike with the sign.
Sunday I headed back off to Scugog and took the island road and then headed back to Whitby and today I set off a lot later than I wanted but did a loop around Sturgreon Lake from Lindsay, Bobcaygeon then back via Fenelon Falls. Traffic was crazy through Fenelon though. Safe riding all and look forward to seeing you out there soon.

So after I got my butt out on the main roads for a few laps over a couple of days, I finally got to venture out a round trip of 75k woo hoo. Which was basically from the airport to old Meadowvale right across Derry . I cant wait till I get another chance to get out again.

On Sunday I took my first long trip, well longest I have taken yet. I went from Barrie to Norland and back on my ninja 500. I came upon a group sport riders on may way back, but they all started doing 150-170 (10 or so of them) so I decided, being new, I didn't want to keep up. Then I came upon a group of three cruiser riders doing 100. I joined at the back for about 45 min. It was pretty cool, I hope they didn't mind. Do most riders mind if you randomly join in the back?

Haha, such a tease! Nice to know it works with queer women too. I would be more inclined to use my bike as a pull factor if I were single... but I am (happily) not.

Today I logged 200+km with Scorpio.

I took Yonge down town to meet up with her and her friend. We drove for like more an hour there, mainly around Cherry and Commisioner before we finally decided to get the hell out of there. We then took Kingston all the way up and ended up on some country roads in Markham. We went back downtown to take her home and I rode to Woodbine for beach volleyball and took Yonge back home.

It's not really a fun route for most of the riders here but I learned great deals from it. It's the first time I rode around downtown so it definitely opened my eyes about how bad the traffic there could be. Now I'm not so afraid of street car tracks anymore, and I'm better at the constant stop & go situations, scanning traffic & surroundings and riding in a group.

Oh, here's a side story. I was taking Church before I turned on Yonge at Bloor. At a stop sign on Church, there was a pretty girl sitting in front of a bar with another chick, smiling and waving at me. I opened my tinted visor so that we could look into each other's eyes. She was yelling at me "omg you are so hot! Marry me!" and I yelled back "I will". She then got all excited and asked me to pull over and give her my phone number. I... didn't and told ther that I will next time I bump into her. When the green light was on, I took off extra fast just to look "hotter" for her. LOL!!!

Now I definitely agree that a lot of times a motorcycle does serve as a fashion accessory... Without the bike, I would just be another person passing her by.
