Where are you riding this weekend?

So what your saying is that I need to make practice haha.

Yeah.
The track got ROUGH on race day... And I've ridden Gopher after 2 days of practice and no grooming, so I know rough lol.
Without us running ATVs this year we don't need to groom very much, so all of us are adjusting to how the tracks change through the day.
It got so bad that a few people in my last moto (second to last moto of the day) actually pulled off the track and didn't finish. I had a bad finish due to a first lap crash, but I finished. Shoulder is not doing so good, hopefully I'll be able to race next weekend.
Saturday practice was bad for injuries. Had a guy knock himself out in the first session, in the next round someone broke their arm and in the next one out we had a guy break his femur... It's a fairly technical track.

Next weekend we are at the Lindsay fairgrounds. A really fun track, everything is "safe" and it shouldn't get too rough. Roost is nasty there though, with the way the dirt clumps up and the rocks that are in it.

So I ended up making it for both days. Was taking the practice gate when the guy broke his leg... sounded real nasty. Great track though and it provided lots of hang time, which I need due to my lack of confidence in the air. By the end of the day I was at ease hitting everything, though I was only doing the short course. I think I'm taking this week off from racing, though I may head up to Motopark again for a track day. Not getting enough time on the bike per $'s spent at the races... I need more on track time turning laps to improve, and the races don't really provide enough track time for me. Still, it was great to see another track and ride in the sand for the first time. I was having a hard time keeping it straight on the uphill straight (after turn 1) and it was really sandy... probably lost the most time there.

Thunder Mud does seem more like my cup of tea, but I'm almost sure I wont be heading there this weekend. As far as series go though, I was really impressed with MMRS. The hand-out schedules, the signage, the food truck, and the competition were all great. Look forward to heading out to another race soon.

Trick on that straight is to get your butt off the seat, as far back as you can an hold the throttle wide open. Basically trying to get the front wheel to skip over everything. Sand is weird at first, you have to learn to let the bike move while still maintaining control over it.
We were on the same practice session. I was in my pit (I was the truck and trailer right next to the start gate) and heard he had a broken femur so I went to make sure there wasn't a big bleed, the PCPs at the track don't have the tools to deal with some stuff.

Hopefully you weren't the guy whose bike I launched off of on the first lap in the 250 race. Fell in front of me on a landing, I had the choice of trying to stop, which wasn't likely since I was still in the air. So I just leaned back and pinned it. Launch off his bike. I sort of felt bad since I'm pretty sure it broke something on his bike.

Madoc, which is after Lindsay is a fun track. Wide open in most places, a tricky little "double-triple" section (unless you're Kyle Keast, then you just do all of them at once) and probably the biggest jump of the series. And the spectators can see almost the entire track. Roost at this track is probably the worst of them all, so wear your protection. It breaks fingers and noses.

Riding was awesome Saturday. Laid down some of my best lap times ever.
Disaster struck Saturday night. Managed to slip a disc in my back and I'm off the bike for at least a month. Gonna follow the physio plan perfectly and try to keep in riding shape so I can get back ASAP.

Madoc is next weekend, good, fast fun track for those that can still ride!
I'll be there, probably taking the FZ6 and bike camping there all weekend.

Enjoy that! The track there is great, and the trails should no longer be the swamp they were a few weeks ago.

Lol, never got to. I crashed 3 days prior at the ganny and separated my shoulder. Now I'm laid up for a couple weeks. Not having too much luck this spring.

Crap, that sucks :( Sorry to hear... I haven't had a great start to my season either - last weekend I tore a couple muscles under my shoulder blade from a 3wheeler (aka death machine) tumble so I'm out of commission for a few weeks myself. Your injury sounds much worse though :(

I'm out for at least a month with a slipped disc in my lower back. Apparently when you turn 30 you're supposed to start being nice to your body or something. Not 30 yet, but it's coming up this year.
Physio guy says I should lighten up on all the high impact activities even when I'm finally back in comission. Not going to happen!

I turned 37 this year. I won't stop beating the piss outta my self for the forseeable future. lol

The Motopark XC is this weekend if anyone is interested.

I probably won't make it but I heal pretty quick. Plus I'm stubborn, so you never know.
