Where are all the 2011/2012 FZ8 owners? Are you out there?

I have the fz6, and really, really want the fz8. My buddy has a white and red version in the shop, and everytime I walk in he asks when am I trading the fz6 in for it... He knows I want it. If it had under tail exhaust I think I would have given in already.

Im a bit peeved to see the colour scheme, I was planning something very similar on my fz6 and then this version of the fz8 came out... At least I know it will look good!

Did you try FZ8? I honestly liked it - I just can's justify dropping this kond of dough on FZ8 when I can get lighter, more powerfull, fully adjustable FZ1 with same naked conversion and same retro colour for much less (I am talking slightly used of course.

This is one of the examples I am talking about - in April I saw them go for 5-6 south of the border with usually several hundred miles on the odo:

I absolutely love the red one (I think 2011 year model). However, I'd worry that I'd be tired of it in a year and wish that I got the black.

Not that it matters, riding an F800R instead. But still admiring the design of the FZ8.

This naked FZ1 would be the package for me... if I was into inline 4's. When I 1st saw the FZ8 at Oakville Yamaha I was thinking; "Finally, one of the big 4 have done it... a good looking naked bike". Too bad they kept it as a bargain bike where some of the parts and adjustability are concerned (although better than some of the parts on the GSR750, like the cheap-a s s swingarm). The Z1000 came close but there were some design ques I couldn't look past... then they changed it and made it worse.

So far FZ1 is on top of my list for the next bike. Even if I don't find one already converted - full euro kit (not cheap stuff kit for FZ6 from India) will be around 600-700 OTD. Convert, sell the fairings and come out almost even. FZ1 second gen can be had for pennies compared to FZ8 with lowe mileage, pipes, PC, Ivan's or Holeshot mods, etc.
I still liked FZ8 but just not compelling enough to upgrade.

I currently ride FZ6 (had it converted to naked and back) and I could not wait for FZ8 to arrive. When it finally did - I was super excited and finally today got around to try it during Yamaha Demo days.
Kind of dissapointed - I expected much more. Compared to my FZ6 with LV pipes, K&N filter and PCIII it feels almost the same. Torque and midrange - noticably more but not enought to warrant calling it an upgrade to FZ6.
Verdict - if you have FZ6 and looking to upgrade to another FZ - look for FZ1.
If are looking for FZ6 kind of bike - defintely take a close look at FZ8, great all rounder overall.

What can you say about the suspension? I haven't googled yet, but how does the suspension compare to that of your FZ6?

Personally, the FZ8 won't offer a huge increase of power for me, but I'd like to try an inline 4 engine (sv650 is my first bike), with good suspension. From the reviews (which may or may not be biased), they're touting the FZ8 as suspension worth of a SS bike, without some of the multi-levels of adjustability (which makes sense, as this isn't intended to be a track/race bike).

Still, modest power increase, SS-level suspension and smooth highway cruising all sound like they could justify the jump from an SV. Damn, I wanna try this bike.

I'm drooling... That is one hot bike!

My buddy offered me to take the FZ8 out for a run, but I declined because I'm pretty sure I would be too tempted...
I'm happy with the FZ6 so I don't really need to change it up. It does everything I need/want adequately enough, but I really wish the front forks were stiffer... So maybe the FZ1 is an option once I feel the need to switch it up.

Kri$han: The stock suspension on the FZ6 is the weak point I think. I have this feeling that if it was more oriented towards a SS, it would give me more confidence for cornering hard. One of the most popular mods is switching our forks out to R6 forks.

Suspension is a little on the plush side for the FZ8. New models really need to have preload and damping adjustments on the suspension. It's not a sporty feel... But it would be great for touring.

I ride a 2007 FZ6 and the HP is 92 almost the same as the FZ8. I do like the size increase of the 8 though. Great looking bike. Enjoy it the best part is as you stated already its a sport tourer. Insurance low and still redline at 16,000 its a crazy good bike. I have been riding for 5 seasons now and still love my FIZZER!!! Only mod I did was the front end because it was way to soft. Race Tech In Barrie were amazing. Welcom to the Fizzer club they are amazing.

Race Tech Barrie fixed my front end. New springs, emulator, oil it was like a new bike and only $550.00 and the power to the FZ8 is not worth the upgrade, get the front end done and you will be riding a new bike. Now that the front end is set to my weight I frigin love this bike even more.
