Where and what was the closes call you've had that scared the crap out of you

No Half measures right Keith

My worst moment wasnt a close call but boy did it make me crap my pants . A bird flew out a feild and struck me on the chest. I was going 90-100 at the time. I saw the bird in slow motion as well..bit welt was left and im pretty sure he didnt survive. Poor birdy

that must have hurt!

Group ride at night. Went to pass - passing lines ended, right into a right turn. Dropped two gears, braked hard, slid the rear and made the turn - barely. If there was an oncoming car, I was a dead man.

Niagara falls, typical tourist douchiness. Guy in a convertible pulls out, I do a stoppy to keep from hitting him, nearly flew into the passenger who had massive tits. I would have hit those giant mammaries head first. And beleive you me, she had a giant set of knockers, in a tank top. I'm certain that my lifted shield would have snagged the tank top, revealing those monstrous mellons to all. Everybody walking around would have seen those flying saucer sized areolas. That would have been wicked. Oh and I smashed my nuts pretty good on the tank, next time i'll hit the ****er.

So you're saying that she didn't have small sweater-meats, if I read you right; I think I do.

This is all I can recall from reading it a few times.

Had my first close call on Tuesday heading south @ Bathurst and Queen.
I was driving behind a car in the left lane when he signals for a left turn so I move into the right lane. Now... I don't know how this woman didn't notice me. I guess she was looking to make sure there weren't any pedestrians crossing and assumed no traffic was coming?

Anyways, she starts her left turn as I'm entering the intersection (It's still a green light) and I lay on the horn, she then speeds up (could have easily just sped through) but instead decides to come to screeching stop!! I was already letting the engine slow me a down a bit cause I assumed she would just go through, when she came to a stop directly in front of me it caught me off guard. I had to brake really hard, the street car tracks didn't make it any easier, the bike was shaking like crazy and I literally stopped inches from her passenger side door. She then tossed her hands up as if saying "wtf" and I was infuriated, I jumped off the bike, kicked her door and was telling her to get the **** out of her car. Couple of bicylce cops saw the whole thing, they rushed over and told me to chill out before I got myself into trouble. Blah, blah, dunno what happened to the woman, cops were talking to her when they let me leave.

All I know is that if I had a close call like this during a green light, there is no way I'm going to try and make yellows downtown. I'll just wait it out.

Had mine about 30min ago, riding for about a week now. Learnt a very valuable lesson today. I was coming along Adelaide st going east, turning right on to spadina- due to construction ahead. At the turn my bike's rear wheel slides out and grips again. To conclude, I managed to stay on top :p

I think there must of been some cement/ a dusty crosswalk at the turn. I slipped on the cement part of the crosswalk during acceleration.

Three incidents.
Cambridge: Riding straight, oncoming car, short gap, 2 more oncoming cars. Car at stop at a T intersection, wants to turn on the the road and head in the same direction I'm going in. Anticipate car may pull out in gap into my lane - sure enough it does. I swerve right to avoid, and clear the cage by about 3 feet. Unfortunately, I was too concerned about the cage, and didn't notice a mom pushing a double baby carriage on the side of the road. Missed her by about 4 feet at the apex of my swerve. At the next stop sign I let the cager have it - she broke down in tears when she realized that she almost killed me. If she had hit me, I have no doubt my body and bike would have gone flying into the mom and baby carriage.

Waterloo: At a stop light. First vehicle in line. Cars from right turning left in front of me on their green light. Hear squealing brakes, look in rear view and see minivan skidding on an angle towards me. I start bailing out and off the bike -- can't go forward because turners are cutting corner tight, can't go right as there is a car a little ahead and to the right. Soccermom gets van stopped about 1 foot off my tail, front bumper about 2 feet off my clutch cover, 1 foot to car that's to my right.

Waterloo: Last night. Conestogo Mall by Zellers at the 4 way stop. I stop, start to proceed. Oncoming Range Rover rolls through the stop, turning left. I emergency brake, shaking my head. Cager giving me finger all the way through his turn. Wanted to follow and explain that he almost killed me, but felt a cooler head would prevail. Really wish I had my helmet camera on...

2nd place.
I tipped in late to turn 2 at Mosport yesterday afternoon.

1st place.
I lost the back end cresting turn 7 at Calabogie.

I was east bound on major mackenzie just before dufferin. Anyone who travels that area knows that the left hand passing lane usually gets clogged with anyone trying to make a left to go northbound. Well I was in the right hand lane approaching Dufferin travelling at speed. Everyone in the left hand lane was stopped because it was clogged. I guess this lady was tired of waiting because without signalling, looking or anything, spun her wheels to the right and pulled out right in front of me. She was attempting to get in the right hand lane to go around the people trying to go north. Anyway, I slammed on my brakes, the Hayabusa bucked a little bit (too much front brake) and my feet came off the pegs and sputtered along the pavement (my feet) before I stopped the bike. She had made the corner too sharp and when she figured out that she couldn't complete the turn without mounting the curb she stopped dead in the lane. If I had hit her I would have gone through the passenger side window and probably into her lap.

I will admit I lost my cool, My front tire stopped mere inches from her door. I was screaming at her through my helmet and her windows. I said some not so nice things. She backed her little gold corolla up and drove off down the road. Without so much as an apology or to see if I was ok.

I took down her license plate and reported her to road watch, along with the witness info of a person who saw the entire incident. He was a volunteer fire fighter. He thought for sure I was going over the bars. I privately hope she gets her just desserts for her careless movement, but in the form of a wake-up call. I don't wish ill on people, but by God this woman just about killed me over her getting home 4 or 5 mins earlier than if she had waited.

I know exactly what you meant, that's happened to me there as well as at Bathurst which is worse I think. Careless careless people.

Better than 1, 20, 15 or 16, but still a good quick corner. Eesh.

I went sideways at the top of fourth gear on top of candy mountain, and did a mini-highside recovery.......... good thing I'd been in the bathroom shortly before.

What made it "fun" was seeing the rear end step out to the right while I was hanging off the left side of the bike. As soon as I'd recovered the highside attempt I found myself pointing at the trees/rocks and about 2ft from the edge of the track. I rejoined the track about 20ft before Temptation. That's what told me that the US NTECs were good for about 3 days.

Back on topic, most of my Oh Snap moments come from wet street car tracks or cabs downtown.

+1 tracks
+1 taxis

Been cut off numerous times but could see each one coming from miles away.

I'm not getting three days to a set of NTECs. The rear starts spinning up and sliding, gets progressively more active until I can't turn good times... I'd say about a day and a half at 'bogie. Have Sandy put a new set on.... bike does what I tell it to again. I've been lapping around the 2:15 mark for a decent lap and somewhere in the 2:10 area if I'm really hitting my marks. Those getting down to 2:05s aren't braking until there's no room left for error... tried following some of the CSBK pros, a bit too much excitement for a track day... heh

My favourite have been:

Going east on the 401 riding in the centre lane in heavy traffic, car in the left lane starts changing into my lane and there was a truck in the right lane blocking me so I ended up between them. That was actually the first time I "filtered" since I didn't want to be stuck anywhere near the driver.

Going south on Winston Churchill chicks makes a right turn at an intersection and goes straight for the far left lane, missing my front tire by a foot. At the next intersection she had her face in her hands the whole time and wouldn't even look at me.

Riding in a group going west on the 401 had a driver literally change lanes in the middle of the group.

Today, I'm riding the QEW in the right side of the left-most lane. I'm about 4 car lengths behind a pickup travelling at around 120 k/h. Out of the corner of my eye I see something to my left by my leg, I look and it's some a-hole in a cavallier passing me on the left in my lane. My first thought was to kick his mirror off as it brushed my arm going by but instead I shrugged it off. It's awfully hard not to loose it riding these days.

There are too many close calls, that I lost track/lost count.

It's gotten to the point where I'm like meh whatever.

I can let a lot of things slide, but that would have flat out sent me into a rage. I'm actually ****** right now for you.

I've never tried, I wonder how hard it is to remove a mirror, while in motion, and not hurt yourself in the process?

Sitting in the far left turning lane at lights on Blossomfield dr and Lawrence. Reved my engine made eye contact wit the driver in the left turning lane on my right. When the light turned green I proceeded into my turn when I noticed a bumper right next to my right foot peg, stupid cow to my right had blown her lame on the turn and was driving in my lane running me into the curb. I managed to stay upright, Reved my engin really loud and gave her the finger. As the next light turned green and she went to take off I said **** it and followed her she tried losing me in the residential area, she e en stopped at a 4 way stop and waited for other traffic to stop( I thought about getting off the bike but figured she would f off so I stayed put) sure enough as soon as other cars pulled up to the stop sign she took off, I caught up to her a moment later. After 30 min chasing her around the streets she pulled into an apartment building parking lot, I pulled up next to her as she rolled down her window crying and screaming "what do you want" I proceeded to explain what she did, how she almost killed me and that just because I am on a bike it doesn't make me any less human, I told her I am a mother, I have kids and that had she killed me yes she would have been able to go back to her family at the end of the day but what about my family. I would like to think that even though she scared the crap out of me that what I did to her not only scared her but made her think just a little and maybe prevented her from running another bike off the road in the future.
I know it sure felt damn good to give her a piece of my mind.
