When to buy a motorcycle?

I'm delighted to stumble across a thread that finally sheds light on when to buy seasonal equipment. It certainly seems to be counter intuitive and confusing at times. Membership here has paid back seven fold. Having said that, I still believe breaking from the herd spiritually, financially and metaphysically, while initially causing stress to the average couch potato potato, can prove a viable modality in the cut and thrust world real men inhabit. This is what we should all strive for. Throw off the shackles of conformity.
ps pm me for soft icecream and pie runs.

Today would be an excellent soft icecream day, sunny, but the icecream wouldn't melt prematurely. Possible 15 20 min time frame to enjoy with no drippage. And yet the DQ outlets remain shuttered till spring. This is why the earth will never be round.

I feel like the buy low in fall, sell high in spring effect is not as strong as it used to be. Maybe it's insurance cooling things off, maybe I'm imagining it, maybe other indeterminate factors

You will be haunted by the one that got away today as you survey the lifeless heap bought under duress later.

There is some truth to this (instantly a concours-grade VF500F sprang to mind). Don't pass up a good deal hoping for a great deal

I would say if you're buying new, strike now. There's still another 6 weeks+ of winter and nobody's buying anything. Salesmen at the dealerships are basically sitting there doing nothing praying for an early spring.

Just got home from Snow City. Lots of people browsing, at least 3 deals going down, +1 guy loading his new R1 on a trailer. Sunny day, but too cold for much else. Might as well go bike shopping!

I was in Orillia the other day, saw the GP Bikes truck and trailer dropping off someone's new bike. People are still buying.

Poor you. My Dairy Queen remains unshuttered.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess it's one of them that doesn't sell burgers.

i found the fall had the best pricing, picked up a 2010 sportster 883 that was selling at a dealership for $7500 and ended up getting it for $8100 on the road with 730 km on it, every other sportster i saw was either older with high mileage and roughly around the same price, or similar mileage /year but at least 2k more

I've bought my last two bikes in the fall. Hands down you get the best price. I took a brand new 2007 Kawasaki Versys off the dealers floor in the fall of 2008 and he was very motivated to sell. I got the bike out the door for $1000 less than the MSRP.

$1000 off that isn't very much ...

I bought my a 2005 ST1300 in June of 2006 it was 19.5k MSRP and I got it for 14.5k plus accessories plus taxes. This was from Dewidlt Honda in hamilton

I got a 2003 Kawi 750 bought new in 2004 winter, MSRP was I think 10k and I got it for 6.5k plus tax... from I think its Warp Sports ? It's a place in Orangeville I think.

2010 VFR1200 I got new in 2012 summer (sitting a while eh!) was something like 18k MSRP and I got it for 11.9k plus tax. Got this from Markham Power (on 48th)

that's motivation.
