When does riding season officially start in Ontario?

Looking at the 14 day trend on the weather network, looks like mine will start on the 18th.
 
I commuted to work in December. I managed at least three rides (1 hour +) a month over the "winter". I consider riding season to be when I use my bike to commute to work...It started today! Happy spring.

I'm riding today, but then I never really stopped. When the roads are dry and the sky is sunny and the temp is +2 or better, I'm out Even if it's only for an hour. (It's a hell of a lot cheaper than a therapist!)

To the O.P. I guess it really depends upon your own personal addiction to riding. You'll get a hundred replies to this question and about a hundred and twenty different answers! ;)

meh...the lack of riding has caused us to create threads based on already existing threads. We should all be back to normal after we have a week of riding.
 
MTO's definition seems to be May 1.

Looking to book my M2 exit test with the MTO - Earliest I can book an appointment for is May 1 (even though I'm eligible sooner)

Same here. Might be they're booked solid but that's the earliest for me also.
 
Riding season never ends.....when it gets warmer I ride for a longer period of time / distance.
 
It's a beautiful day for it today! Last night was chilly but today is just awesome!

It starts when ever you get off your *** and on to your bike and go for a ride. lol

Hoping I start on Friday.
 
Depends on your limits. Some people ride all year some only when the weather is + 10. Some wait for a specific month.
Me if its between 3-10 and not rainy I'll ride (can handle cold or wet but not both)
+10 I'll ride rain or shine.

I would guess the season begins when riding courses and MTO testing starts. Might be when the motorcycle patrols take to the roads too.


You'll always find rider's year round and of course a nice day in the winter bring out a few more but, overall I don't think there is a specific date. It's more weather and road condition related.

It starts when a rider pulls his bike out and rides. There is no date, no time, no reason behind why. Its unique and distinct for the person. Some it never ends, some its 9 months of the year, some its 5 months of the year. Riding season has begun for some and not for others. Insurance companies seem to think it never ends which is why we must all be covered for the winter months when were all out on the road.
