Whats the most kilometers you've seen on a motorcycle

A lot of people always ask how many kms motorcycles are good for, especially when buying their first bike. As veteran riders know maintenance goes a long way, however the bits and pieces that go into bikes can withstand a lot of riding.

My old man had a 1986 GSX-R 1100 that he bought brand new with a friend that bought the same bike. Over the years he put 175,000K on it while his friend did 125,000K on his. Only the carbs needed to be done on the bike, nothing major ever went wrong till he sold it.

Although the craziest I've seen is Thomas' 2008 Hayabusa with 410,000k. Only thing replaced have been the cam shafts. Suzuki even invited him to their factory and honored him with a plaque for his dedication to the bike.

Not personal stories, but I saw a bmw R1200RT on sale with like 170k today,
It was being sold by an official BMW dealer, so I assume they looked it over and made sure its in decent shape
(shaft drive wont implode after leaving the lot etc)

My bike is the only one I know the mileage of, closing in on 125,000 nothing major has been replaced. I am sure most other typical HD owners would have rebuilt the motor twice already.

You obviously need more stages to get reliability down.

I get tired of bikes long before I wear them out
and usually sell or trade them before they depreciate to zero

a cage on the other hand is a POS that is run into the ground
I get every cent of value out of them, then they leave on the hook

I’ve had a few bikes over 100,000km, but there is a guy in Georgia who put over 430,000 miles (700,000km) on his VStrom.

Equally impressive is a guy in Manitoba who has 285,000km on his.

My ST1100 had 137,000 km on it when I sold it a few months ago. 2 friends ST1300's had 205,000 km and 245,000 km when sold within the last 12 months. At Honda ST events not uncommon to see ST1100 and ST1300 bike's with over 200,000 miles on them.

Highest mileage I saw was an ST1100 with 395,000 miles (about 637,000 km).

I know a rider on a 2008 zx-14 with 320,000 km original motor still riding.

Bikes have sure come along way from the '70s when I got into riding.

Back in those days, both my H2 and DT1 developed piston slap at 10K.

My ST1100 currently has 185K km on it. All original and never let me down. Replace the oil regularly, tires yearly and brake pads occasionally and it will just keep going.

IIRC there was a fellow at the CVMG with a million miles on a goldwing that he trailered to the rallies with another goldwing.

kijiji had a 1997 VFR750 with 335876 km on it one owner $1200. Very clean looking to.
