Its the same as every other season. Get used to it or quit riding. It wont get any better in the future. This exact same thread will be posted next year, and the year after...
I live right by 427 just before it meets up with 401. I heard them too, can't help but smile every time but god damn these boys were FLYING last night!
This is a nightly occurence at this location all summer long.
You're not part of some elite club where every biker is responsible for another's image. The bike "community" is a diverse one in toronto, and everyone is responsible for their own actions.

People are going to walk, ride, drive, fly, even sleep, and die doing it.
If a person has a desire to try to survive, the person will take the necessary actions.
However, even this does not guarantee success and sooner or later the gig is up...

larger because there are more riders... hence the frequency of accidents probably increased. Don't be so flippant about it.
I guess its time for everyone to move up to a 750 or 1000K

Statistically the number of deaths due to motorcycles has remained constant around 200/year in Canada. Not sure about the number of accidents though.

To know the accident rate we need to know how many riders there are and how many deaths and injuries. All we get are the deaths. No way to tell if its more or less dangerous. If the number of fatalities is staying about the same, it is still necessary to know whether the number of riders is increasing or decreasing and also whether people are riding more or less.
Another thing to consider is whether the risks causing the deaths are the same for you as the deceased. If the deceased was drunk and speeding and you neither drink nor speed then their unfortunate demise has no bearing on your risk. Just because someone died on a motorcycle it has no bearing on whether I'm at risk.
It's a little like saying a lot of green eyed guys died this year. I have green eyes and I'm a guy. So what?
Also, for the police reports OBVIOUSLY speed was a factor. If the guy was standing still and nothing was moving then he couldn't have been killed. By saying this for almost every accident, they get the press to promote their mantra that speed kills. The question is, was EXCESSIVE speed a factor? And that is very hard to determine without knowing all the variables. If buddy sneezes and loses control while doing the speed limit and hits a light pole and dies then speed was a factor. But it was not relevant to the death.

Thats what i was thinking, more riders more accidents. Why are there more riders, ummm cost me a buck in gas to get work instead of 10 bucks in a car. and parking is free!

yeah same here. If I leave the window open, I can hear bikes zooming 3-4-5 in the morning. Sometimes a train, too.
faster than a car in city traffic. *wink* *wink*

I just did some quick figuring. Assuming 200 motorcycle fatalities a year in Canada and assuming a six month riding season in Ontario and assuming equal distribution of riders by population across the country, you can expect one fatality a week in the GTA and 4 per week in Ontario.

Actually the real reason is things like the internet and social media. You just plain hear more about these things. Not to mention when you become a rider you tend to pay more attention to them as well.
15 years ago I worked for a shop doing pick up and deliveries and from April to October i would pickup at least 2 bikes a week that had been insevere accidents where the rider had been either killed or severely injured.
