What's for dinner?

I'd like to go veggie but I'm no good at making it
and I live in an area where the only dining out veggie option would be a veg burger

this is probably my favorite restaurant
Chinese veggie place - so good you forget there's no meat in it
full meal with soup and beverage for $3 appeals to me as well

check out Kings cafe in Kensington market in Toronto if you’re ever there. It’s Chinese vegetarian/vegan and it was awesome when I was there several years ago.

We have a few Indian vegetarian restaurants in the Miss/Brampton area, I dont know enough about Indian culture to know which group are vegetarians , but on Dixie rd is a veg buffet place across the street from a meat buffet place. It's really tasty but hard on my pale system. We still go once a month.

some fabulous tacos from a tacqueria in South Beach Miami. Blackened shrimp, fried chicken and on the right is fish. Delicious and fresh.

some Peruvian food I had in Coral Gables. Cold potato croquettes with raw tuna

Market ceviche. This had everything in and was delicious.

Didn’t take pictures but the prime rib at the Fallsview Keg tonight was perfect (and I’m no Keg fan - it was my dates choice). The horseradish was as fresh and hot as I’ve ever had - my first dollop nearly blew a hole in my nasal cavity.

saw a recipe for lower fat cream of mushroom soup
typical ingredients
except a cup of greek yogurt replaces the heavy cream

disgusting waste of good yogurt
went down the toilet it did, yuck

Juicer, anybody juicing?

took a flyer on a Breville Juicer
Amazon dangled it at a price I couldn't resist

had been trying IF routine as discussed here and elsewhere
seemed to be getting positive results
but it was too easy to make poor eating decisions post-fast
enter the juicer

been using it a week now for veggie juicings
and combinations of veggies/fruits
generally some pretty yummy results that really help tide me over skipping meals

the quantity of produce required is kind of surprising
enough veggies to feed a family of 5 is required for 1 litre of juice
the roughage left over is really wasteful
and being a Scot, it is not agreeing with me

tried making a veggie loaf out of some roughage
kale, carrots, celery, apples, beets
mixed the roughage with some powdered oats, whole grain flower, spices etc
baked up nice and had an interesting looking cross section
one bite and tossed that foul tasting sh!t !

anyone interested in a very gently used juicer?

Lol I have 2 more for sale if anyone is interested used for about a week like I think all of them are. I had one and so did my wife haven't bee used in years.

I love baked apples, a tablespoon of that havana club down each hole would be a nice finish. Maybe a couple tablespoons into the chef for safety.

cauliflower parmesan

roasted half a head cut into spears with olive oil and seasonings
covered in marinara sauce, mozzarella and parmesan

broiled on high for 5 minutes, topped with more parm
not bad

back to this %&#$ing juicer
having better luck as I figure out what works well and what doesn't

as no one is buying fruit theses days and going for packaged stuff
scooped two bags of ripe mangoes today
one of my faves but generally expensive in Canada this time of year

anyway, they were ripe so would not keep
ran a dozen of them through the juicer and got one glass of liquid out of the POS
$15 for a glass of juice

^^^^ that made me laugh.

Can I get some brownie points for my dinner? Nowhere near as fancy as some of you have posted on here.
This was last nights quick dinner.

Costco Rustic Mini Ciabatta buns (pre-baked and frozen, into the oven for 5-7 min, fresh buns everyday ? Item#2347631) ,
Costco bruschetta ready toppings topping. (item# 2223266)
Ground up on the spot goat milk feta cheese

Left over sirloin steak courtesy of Woodward Meat Purveyors. (friend owns the place. I have not been into steaks much until I tried his stakes. ? ? I now refuse to have a steak at restaurant like The Keg. Also cause I can get them for dirt cheap)

Glass of 2014 Wayne Gretzky Cabernet Merlot

Not fancy but it did the job.

I think it’s fair to say you are unenamoured. Good news is that it should sell easily on Kijiji, just mention vitamin C ...health etc.

Get a blender instead and do smoothies.
