Hey guys, for a "mid ranged" helmet which would you suggest? (something comparable to rf1100)

I just bought a rf1100 recently, and now looking for a back up or a beater helmet or even a passenger helmet.

HJC RPHA10?

AGV helmets?

Lets hear it guys. what helmets are y'all rockin? :D

Try the Shoei FZR, its been a great lid for me.

My first helmet was an AGV Stealth and my current one is a Scorpion EXO-400. Absolutely love the Scorpion lid; even though this model is on the cheaper side it still feels like a quality build helmet. Changing visors is a snap, and I love the fact that the sides aren't tight on the ears (which makes for putting on earphones very easy)

I was at kahuna recently poking around the helmets section and although I've never been an icon fan ,I must admit I was pretty impressed with their airmada line.Fit and finish was very nice, some decent colour schemes too, might be worth a look....I got's my eye on the bostrom .....:)

Here's a new helmet...Shark Raw helmet...streetfighter look

I've had and crashed in lots, from crap zox all the way throuhh to shoei

My fav of all was an exo700 I destroyed in a crash. Light, comfy, inexpensive, kept me concious.

I like my Bell RS-1

Just couldn't get past the visor latch on the RPHA10

Something perfect fit thats snell cert.

Snell certification is relevant for racing. There is no evidence that Snell helmets are any safer than DOT approved, and many comfort features prevent Snell certification (like internal visors, venting).
Snell will certify open-faced helmets. Snell also charges big $ for their certification, so many brands do not get Snell tested.

From $200 to $2000, they are all the same basic safety design: a bucket and EPS styrene liner (coffee cups).

What you pay for is quality in visor hardware, finish etc. But, keep in mind is is safer to buy a new helmet every 5 years , than buy one pricey one every ten.

Most people buy helmets that are too large. Arai published this at 80%.

Shoei, Aria, AGV, Schuberth, Bell -they all spend a fortune in racing sponsorship -this adds to the price. They do this because they know selling helmets is about fashion.

Was just going to suggest this one... I have had mine for 3 years now and love it still! Can take the liner out and wash it... visor is a breeze to change... and very good pricing. Only down side is it is slightly heavier then others in its category but still a great buy!

Washable liner is a big plus.
