What to do with old computers, monitors, etc.

I also rebuild computers for the less fortunate although I haven't had space to work for awhile so I've got a few machines piled up now. I've also started to run low on needy people to give them to. Thought about posting Kijiji ads for free machines but thought there'd be no way to know they were going to a good cause or not.

Monitors are the hard part to get because people rarely throw out working LCDs and even needy people don't want CRTs, from my experience. They take up too much space.

I don't do 486s and junk with 10 mb hard drives, though. I generally do at least P4 or better. If it's too slow to even get online or run a decent word processor, what's the point?

I have a worn-out Brother colour laser printer that I'm soon going to be hauling to the boneyard. I don't feel like lugging that thing down the stairs, but I think I can make it to the 2nd floor balcony above the porch ...

put it out on the curb... trust me somebody will pick it up. All my old stuff was gone within ~3 hours. Toronto also has a recycling program where they pick it up.
