What mods are you planning to do over the winter?

Because she has like 33k on her, her maintenance record is suspect, I have the time and other things like I've noticed shoddy wiring I want to replace...

Also, she needs some TLC, many 'weathered' bolts etc.

That's an excellent idea. You will also want to take a good look at the steering head bearings, wheel bearings, and swingarm pivot for wear/corrosion. They get overlooked, far too often.

What else is there to do in the winter? :p

Just seems unnecessary to me, if a GS motor is working good, then you don't need to take it apart.

Woot! DDM HID kit just arrived:

I'll go out and attempt to install it now. Bet this will hurt :(

you already winterized your bike, wtf. Stop worrying about moods and go get some riding done, bet you spent most of your time at the local timmies.....jezz

Maybe there's a rational explanation for putting the bike away so early, dawg.

Maybe he lives at the north pole, and now he has to trek 2800km to the local Timmies by dog sled.

Or maybe he has to go overseas for the next few months, where the local Timmies serve dog stew.

Dunno why there are so many dogs in the post.

Carry on.

Last year my tires we're smoked and everyone was out of stock of PR2's until November, so I put the bike away in September and closed out the year on a scooter.

The can is a good size, but are you going to do something about that pipe?... Too long...

edit: Just noticed that 100$ bill... baller!

All the girls complain my pipe is too long ;)

It was the only bill in my wallet, not cause I'm a baller, just cause nobody will take em! lol! I put it there to show the size of the can, it looked so big in the pic (taken from my crackberry) i wanted to show scale (it's only a 10" can!).

The pipe was cut as short as possible and welded to the "v.a.l.e." flange by the Two Bro's factory. Total prototype/custom job, no refunds, no guarantee, etc. I told them I wanted it mounted nice and tight like my 08 R6 was. I sent them some measurements, angles, etc., and they said my stock header exhaust outlet is at the perfect angle and position, so it was easy for them. They also included the stock midpipe too in case their setup didn't work, but they said they wouldn't do any alterations for me. The muffler is super close to the rear brake, and if you push it down hard it contacts the exhaust just slightly (where the brake pivot is). If it wasn't a carbon fiber can I'd probably let it slide, but I don't want to crack the carbon! As soon as I can find someone that can weld thin wall stainless I'll get them to cut up the stock midpipe and give me a little more room.

HID install is done and super tight and neat, and exhaust is installed temporarily. I didn't bother recording a sound demo because I can't take the bike out of my shed. I'm also getting the Two Bro's P1X sound reducer so wanted to do a before/after demo with that too :)

Sorry the pics are crappy, battery was low and wouldn't let me use the flash:

I had to cut the side shields a little to give more room for the HID wires coming out of the middle of the dust cap:

Not bad for a cripple.

I'd have a look at the rear swingarm at ful droop, seems like it might touch the muffler. Also, looks like your ground clearance will be reduced on that side.

Thanks ;)

I measured from the swing arm to the end of the foot peg, and from the swing arm to the part of the muffler that sticks out the farthest, and the muffler is 1/2" closer to the swingarm, so I think the feeler on the peg should touch first. Once I have some help I'll tip her over and see how it looks, not like I'm planning to have it over that far any time soon ;)

I forgot the swingarm wasn't at full droop (cause of the rear stand). I'll be sure to get someone to pick up the tail so I can see it at full droop. There's a fair bit of clearance to the swingarm so it should be close.
