What makes a motocross/offroad/dirt bike street legal?

I called up my insurance company, gave them the make, model and vin. And I got insurance. They didn't question it.

I don't really plan on filing a claim anyways. My rates are high enough as it is.

I'm not trying to get away with anything.

I called the mto and my insurance before I purchased the bike, got a green light from both, and proceeded with my purchase.

I'm curious how he even managed to get street insurance for the VIN

Because he might not...... he's probably got liability for off road..... (and yes, dirtbikes require you to have insurance for off road as well)

And its not a matter of not wanting to make a claim, its IF you mess up, and hit someones car, house, person, property, or possibly even kill someone.
To say it won't happen is plain ignorant.

I deal with insurance companys on a daily basis. If there is any way for them to not have to pay out on a claim, they'll find it.

I'm telling you for your own good, don't assume your covered. Make sure you have a good look at your policy.
If your covered for the street then thats great! But you definatly want to make sure. And yes I've seen the odd few get away with it but please for your own good make sure you do.

Yes, I am covered for the street. I made sure of this before I bought the bike, and once again when I got the insurance. I've looked at my policy, and no where does it mention, dirt, off road, or anything of the nature. I'm covered.
