Well, the upside is amazon will sell you access to their automation if you want. It's pricey but avoids all of the development cost/time/space. The problem is if you built your business around people you like and want to keep employed, choosing amazon as your DC means the vast majority of the warehouse employees get turfed (and their incomes go to amazon).
 
WHEN the type of automation happening in the tech industry trickles down to small businesses, this current system is going to explode.

yeah I dont know where this is going, capitalism requires a begruding sybiotic relationship, but with no one to buy the goods/services produced not sure how it will end.

I would argue the opposite. CERB has been an interesting experiment and based on what I have seen it proves that people would rather do nothing and get a reasonable amount of money than work their ass off for a little more. If you are starving, you will eventually get over yourself and take anything you can find to eat. Perpetual safety net is a failed system from the beginning.

pretty sure its also kept every business afloat(see: record breaking sales in the entire powersports industry)

There's a huge difference between UI and CERB. In case of UI you don't have to make a choice - you can keep working if you want to do better than just surviving.

I don't know anyone on CERB buying toys. JT picking up 75% of salaries of working employees though. Yeesh. Lots of owners just had their expenses whacked with minimal impact on incoming money.
