Ive been here for a while now, and this topic has come up previous as well.

I come here for entertainment purposes only now, and find myself surfing here as a habit than anything. ( a bad one at that)

before your time, there used to be many interesting threads, the tech section used to be very useful and trash talk was hilarious, there are hardly anyone posting there anymore, most people on trash were Camaro/Trans Am owners :)
 
Talk about how you don’t need winters tires and you’ll know why people are leaving GTAM.

maybe its because of all the trolls that post in every topic they can read for no apparent reason.
 
You described exactly how i feel.

I think as i get older what i look for in forums has shifted. I do definitively see a reduction in good GTAM topics and there is only about 20 or so regulars that post all the time.

The multiple hacking's, the deletion of archives without a single peep from the Forum owners was a HUGE piss-off and really made me realize that me contributing to this site (or any) is a wasted effort sometimes if by a click of the mouse a person can disappear it all.

Whereas i used to see myself as a member of a community here, now it just come here out of habit. I find myself typing in GTAM before even realizing why i'm coming here.

There have been some good "battles". The Petes Superbikes tire fiasco was a good one, the what-his-face Charity scam, the civic is faster than a 600....lol

There's a three or four year cycle where new members log in, they're super excited and post a million times a day, they organize group rides, find and meet other riders that join GTAM about the same time and create an online clique for that period of time.

They basically graduate from GTAM, still keep in touch with the clique that they joined the forum at the same time. Then a new batch of users come in and the cycle is repeated.

The analogy holds up further: every generation is going to have a class clown, the girl that gets all the attention, a nerd, a stoner, a rebel without a clue. GTAM is basically a John Hughes movie played out every 4 years.

Myself, I got sick of the trolls, the hot heads, the keyboard commandos, the drama queens (male and female) and the constant bickering/fighting I saw on the board. I check in once in awhile but that's about it.

AHHHHH crap... I'm 30 with an 87 T-top trans am and I end up in the high school parking lot with it from time to time... I have a 17 year old sister that I pick up at school when I'm home.

I think the reason why it has died down, is the over-policing of posts. I hold back sometimes so I don't get banned. Lots of things I wish I could say, but I'd never be welcomed back here again.
The demographic has changed for sure. People used to be very welcoming, but now it doesn't seem so. Even if I lived closer to the GTA I doubt I'd be going for many meets now.

For me, I'm getting more involved in the car scene with my T/A (I could purchase a few nice bikes with what I'm spending on this thing) and I'm actually selling the FZ6 after my M test this spring. Too many idiots on the road, the bike only gets used as a commuter since I'm racing MX every weekend in the summer where I can actually RIDE.

Of course, I'll still come around to see the stupid stuff that gets argued about in here, and read enjoyable posts like Pegasus' "how to" tech posts.
 
I had to sell my bike last winter and hated all you ****ers for your bike ownership and had nothing to contribute as a result. I'm not poor anymore and will be buying a new bike shortly. My antics will resume then.

The policing of posts has gone up in conjunction with the level of stupid. Same as it ever was imo, just more morons posting all the time.
