Have you guys noticed the decline in members? How very few people are now logged on and even less posting, it seems to be the same bunch of 15 people posting all the time.

What was it? the recent security issues, the Banning of the very few funny and interesting members?

I think this is a good topic for Hump day

They Banned everyone that used to post... stop posting now before they ban you again.

its true! I see the same members who keep this site alive... the only new ones thats post are the ones that ask " is this bike worth it?" "how much is insurance?" and then you never hear from them again.

I hadn't noticed the declining #s. I assumed that the members that post the most are the ones that have always posted the most. For me, very few posts as no topics that I have any input or opinion to weigh in with. I am still here lurking every day.

I'm in the same boat as bakaboy. I'm always on here reading threads but the majority of times I don't have any input usually due to lack of knowledge on certain things. But i do enjoy reading

Here is my take on it.

1. The forum police suffer from small penis syndrome feel the need to flex muscles ban and stop most people and conversation

2. But more importantly and on a more serious note.. Every point and every post turns into an argument.. Thats the main reason i dont post much

I think this is part of my point, very few interesting topics are posted. I remember when it was hard to keep up with all the good stuff that used to be posted, specially during the winter when people weren't riding, now except for the track forum, there isn't much happening anywhere.

Having been here awhile, I've realized the forum is like a high school. There's a three or four year cycle where new members log in, they're super excited and post a million times a day, they organize group rides, find and meet other riders that join GTAM about the same time and create an online clique for that period of time.

After about 3-4 years, some give up riding, others get sick of discussing the same topics so they stop visiting or posting. They basically graduate from GTAM, still keep in touch with the clique that they joined the forum at the same time. Then a new batch of users come in and the cycle is repeated.

The users that still hang out here with a join date of ~2002, those are like the 25-year old guys in the Trans Am that still hang out in the high school parking lot... :)

The analogy holds up further: every generation is going to have a class clown, the girl that gets all the attention, a nerd, a stoner, a rebel without a clue. GTAM is basically a John Hughes movie played out every 4 years.

I think thats a little much... and when you say every post turns into an argument, just by your post alone that would incite argument. You tend to be that guy that argues everything.

Well it's also winter time. I noticed that the forum slows down a lot come winter and picks back up once riding weather kicks in.

Wait till closer to spring it will bounce back.
How do I do an oil change, and Help by battery is dead threads do not really count as interesting topics ;)

Lightcycle, I noticed how you went back all the way to 2002 not to include yourself among the Trans Am lovers :)

I'm becoming bored with the internet. I rarely go online just to browse and look at stuff. If I'm on a forum I'm usually on a specific task. Checking the classifieds or looking for specific info, etc.

GTAM has a high stupid content too which doesn't help.

I wonder if people getting bored of the internet is a trend, I always wondered if there is going to be a turning point when people will go back to the streets and instead of chatting on a computer, they will drag their ***** back to having a coffee with a friend instead, maybe calling people will become the norm again!

My best memories are of me hanging with my friends at the corner of a street for no other reason than to hang out with them, if I was a teenager these days, I would instead most likely be inside my house on the internet masturbating

There seems to be a lot of know it all's on here and maybe it's just me but there is no point on posting just to argue. Also there are quite a few whiny people who just complain about everything. I see this forum as strictly entertainment and for the classifieds.
