What do you look for in a shop ?

I look for a good attitude from the mechanic. Knows what he is talking about. When I ask a question about either bolt on goodies, or what is wrong with the bike. He makes an honest suggestion. Not that it will cost an arm and a leg. On many occasions gave me the ,"What it might cost if it is the worst case scenario"

Then comes up with a really decent price. Example, the fault is in the wiring loom. Which would mean a pretty big strip down.
Then the final price made me very happy. Craig found the problem and was honest about what it cost.

John the service Manager has also helped me out with any warranty problems. Getting the bike in for service when I need to ride it. Always helpful.

Also a thanks goes to Mellisa who is also very helpful when I need parts. Always happy, cheerful and helpful.

Considering the bike is not far from 100.000 kms.
Thanks John and Craig.

That`s what I look for and have found. Confidence and trust.

Peninsula Ducati. Oakville.

1. Will they even work on my bike/car? (Often this is a no because of what I have.)
2. Have I been there before and did I pay what I thought was reasonable/have a good experience?
3. Reviews.
4. What's the hourly rate?
5. Will they let me bring my own parts?

Competence, professionalism, attitude, price.

I like GP's service department, bike sales (bought a Ducati from Gini, and the year prior Carl never called me back when I asked him to get me a new KTM so I ordered one from Ottawa dealer two days later), and parts departments and use often. I often avoid their gear/accessories dept though as 9/10 time I'll get someone with a cocky/poor attitude (Marianne is awesome though).
When I had a Victory I dealt with Spoiled Sports and while their mechanic was awesome their parts/acc people are incompetent and have bad attitudes so I would ride 1hr farther away to deal with Deerhaven which are excellent.

Being able to get your bike in and out in a reasonable timeframe. There is one very good shop here in Kingston, but they're so busy that you lose your bike for weeks leaving it there. That's fine for end of season work etc., but I usually go to the guys that will have the bike back to me in a couple of days.
