what do you do?

After hearing your horn the other night, I want one!!

Where did you buy yours? and which wiring kit did you use?

I bought the horn & wires from AVicious Cycle in New Hamburg ...they carry all Twisted Throttle products...Small shop, call 1st to place order. The horn "WAKES UP" sleepy car drivers. This will be one of the 1st mods I do on any future bikes. Separating the horn from the compressor makes it easier to hide. Installation was so easy even i couldn't mess it up.

- Drivers will do what you let them. Be courteous, not weak.
- Be aware, but don't look at them, it's acknowledgement that you've seen them, some will take that as an opportunity to cut in.

I would have to polity disagree with that piece of advice. Cars don't drive themselves, and the best thing you can do is try to create eye contact with the driver. Look at what they're doing; they're the ones who will dictate what the car does next, and you want to know if they have their head up their *** or if they're just in a bad mood and have no consideration.

I've had this happen to me a few times on the DVP during rush hour. I think that place/time combination is a different beast. It brings out the worst in people, it seems.

This seems to happen more when I am riding staggered behind my partner. Usually I just honk and they move back out or if there's enough space, I slow down and let them in rather than avoid a confrontation. In the end, it's just not worth my life to "argue" with them even if I'm "right".

However, I had one incident happened which really ****** me off. We were in the right most lane just before the entrance to Bayview/Bloor exit. At this point, there's a dotted line between the outgoing lane and the right most thru lane. There is a solid line between the right most thru lane and the lane to the left of IT. At this point, I was still staggered and close to the barrier on the right.

A car at the last moment decided to cross the solid line AND the dotted line into MY lane. I guess he wanted to get off at the exit and decided I had the most space. Since his front was about mid-bike, I honked at him, threw up my hand, and sped up slightly to get out of his way. He honks at me and proceeds to tail me REALLY closely with clear road rage. Then as the exit becomes two lanes, he swerves to the left as if to get beside me (probably to run me off!). Fortunately, cars started coming and he swerved back behind me.

This isn't the first time I've honked and someone has proceeded to honk back or try a dangerous move. I have to admit, my temper gets to me and I do honk and make hand gestures sometimes but I keep telling myself afterwards I really should stop. Some people get a beepload of road rage just from you calling them out on them doing something CLEARLY wrong!

For example if you're on the highway and passing an on-ramp, choose the blocking position that is most visible to people coming down that ramp. This makes you more likely to be seen by these people, while simultaneously making your position less attractive as an entry point for them.

I presume this solution is only if you're boxed in and can't scoot a lane over.

For some absurd reason, these days, people tend to get their backs up and become aggressive when they're clearly caught in the wrong.

I have been squeezed alot recently by cagers moving into my lane, what do you do back off and let them in?or give it the horn and gas?

Don't ride next to cars. Go faster or slower if possible. Sitting stagnant matching a cars speed while next to it promotes this scenario.

This honestly NEVER happens to me. Maybe you're not using proper blocking position? Maybe you're riding too much in people's blindspot? Something tells me you're doing something to encourage this behavior.

+1

Gotta be aggressively defensive on the road...if that makes sense.

I generally try to block them with my bike if they're doing something douchey like passing a whole line of traffic and then trying to squeeze in at the end instead of waiting with everyone else but if they're going to come in anyway you have no choice but to slow down and let them in unless you want to get injured. The worst is the people that will pass a whole line of cars waiting to turn left and then make the turn beside someone at the end that is turning. I don't know why the cops don't put someone at the intersections that are bad for this and just hand out tickets all day.
