What did you do to your bike recently?

My bike has had a plethora of things done since november when I last rode it.

- machined a new carrier for the larger aluminum sprocket
- keyless Ducati Performance gas cap
- found a set of black wheels (mine came with silver)
- new brake fluid
- coolant flush
- oil change
- plugs
- belts
- fuel and oil filters
- new o-rings on the fuel lines and fuel tank sender
- new carrier bearings
- new chain
- polished the entire exhaust
- found a mint OEM license plate bracket
- replaced almost all the hardware with Titanium
- fixed a couple leaks (valve cover and stator cover)
- powder coated the brake and clutch fluid reservoir caps
- changed blinker fluid

Sold my fz6, took apart the top end on one of the 2 t scoots.

Looked at the drz, now completely paid off, and smiled that smile of accomplishment.

I went into the photo gallery of my phone and reminisced in the memories I had so fondly made with the friends my bikes have brought me.

Up at 2am with few obligations, living the good life

Yesterday I re-ran/re-wired the power supply for my GPS.
I had the power cable running to the acc. plug inside the storage compartment, but... 'Wasn't ideal IMO.

Now the cable is concealed and connects to a switched plug located under the passenger seat.
(Not done yesterday) On my FJR I Installed a 40amp relay wired to a small fuse block under the seat. Power (30) power and trigger (86) are available on the Solenoid right behind the battery. I hang my heated grips, and 2 power outlets off the fused block. I also changed over the power to my electric windscreen to the fuse panel to keep the windscreen in position when I turn the bike off.
 
Street Triple R..
Done a lot this winter/spring but most recently swapped out the stock cams for 08 Daytona Cams, re-shimmed valves and loaded a new tune. Runs great, with a nice new kick at 8k+ but i'm noticing hunting on cold idle so i'll spend some time figuring that out in the next week. I'm still running a cat with O2 sensor, but the custom tune has it disabled, could be it?

Oh i also deleted the secondary air injection because it was getting in the way of the plugs & coils.

What year/gen. is your FJR..?
My windshield stays put wherever it is when I shut off the bike...
 
KLR is good to go - rode to Dover on the 13th. That said I really should check the tire pressure.

Now I am getting close to buying some parts to start reassembling my 76 750F. It's been languishing as a bare frame for a few years now.

would enjoy seeing some pics of your sohc 750 reassembly. and even more special ...its the F model supersport! like.
 
Took passenger pegs off Ducati to clean up the look. New baby due this summer so wife not likely a co-pilot this summer. Running out of stuff to do in the garage!
 
I stared at mine for a bit yesterday....and then just plugged it back into the battery tender for lack of anything else to do right now.

Talking with a buddy right now via text and dreaming up some big in-province trips that may actually be doable once things relax a little.

Side stand enlarger. One can spend $60 - $80 on Givi or H&B, or make you own for one dollar, the cost of four bolts. 0.250" scrap aluminum, tap four M6x1.0 holes. Crude, but effective.

A tool tube. Bolts straight on, no additional bracketry required.

I have Oxford heated grips, installed with their controller bracket. Very ugly. Not my bike in the photo, but my installation was the same.

I made a new bracket out of some scrap material to relocate the controller. Still ugly, but better.
 
I put a set of Oxfords on my wifes Vstar a few weeks back. What a miserable bloody job that was.

First, trying to get the old grips off - previous owner had put a big beefy pair of Kuryakyn ISO's on there which are actually nice grips, but he'd used 55 gallons of the adhesive and trying to salvage them to re-use or resell provided near impossible.

Then...the new ones...I had to cut the throttle tube down to about 2" long as no matter what I did the grips fit so tight that they were squeezing the throttle tube so badly that the throttle wouldn't return on it's own. A massive safety issue needless to say.

The left side one was even worse yet. Had to spend an hour with a rat tail file sanding down and chamfering the end of the grip inside (and to a lesser extent, the entire inside as well out of desperation) to make it even remotely close to being able to get over the end of (and then onto) the bar...and even then it took forever.

Finally got them on. They work great, my wife loves them...but wow, what a total PITA to install even though they indicated they'd fit that size of bar.
 
Sounds like a rather unpleasant ordeal, PP. I've never had difficulty with several sets of Oxfords.

An internet expert recently suggested wiring them in first, then slip onto the bars while they're hot. I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not...

Tried that. Even sat them in front of a space heater for a half hour to try to soften them up that way as well. No joy.

I think the problem is that they're a "will fit a range of handlebar sizes" type construction. The bars on my wifes bike are clearly on the upper end of that because now that they're on there's a very easy to feel "gap" in the plastic sleeve under the rubber membrane. It's split and designed to stretch open to accomodate a bigger diameter bar, but it's one of those "great in theory, not so great in practice" things I think.
 
Another recent project.

When I got the bike, it was without the OEM license plate mounting assembly. I recently acquired one in great shape.........but......the plastic bit that holds the actual plate is for an American plate, and the Canadian I got it from, mangled it to fit a Ontario plate.

Ive had these sheets of 1/4" carbon fiber in my toolbox for about 7 years........just never knew what to do with them........until now.

Here is the sweet OEM bracket that attaches to the bottom of the exhaust......its brushed stainless! Sweetest OEM plate mount Ive ever seen.

Here is the plate backing thingy I made to replace the crap plastic one.......Ive ordered Titanium conical button heads 6mm long for the actual license plate mounting, as I have tapped the carbon for M6, and can do without the nuts on the back. A bit of Lock-Tite should do.
 
Next project.......swing arm from a 2005 999 that lowsidded. The 2003-2004 base model and S model 999 came with a cast swing arm. The 2004 999r came with a bigger, stiffer, more ridgid box style swing arm. The 2005-2006 999's (all models) later came with the box style swing arm.

I need to reshape some of the rash to look smooth in terms of lines......and repair the spool that got ground off.

Main reason I want this swing arm, besides it looking better on the bike, is Im sick and tired of having to pull out my knock off paddock stand (its a pile of garbage, wont even get the front wheel off the ground when bike is lifted) to change the rear tire because there are no spool holes on the 2003-2004 cast swing arms.......so Im using axle spools until I need to pull the wheel. Something as simple as adjusting chain tension with my swing arm is a major PITA
