What did you do in your garage today..?

Fuel stabilizer and filled up the tank ready for winter.

Took a quick ride around. Wow what a difference in the braking feel once Ken flushed out the brake fluid. Night and day.

Very responsive. Huge different in the lower new bars. But not sure I’ll get the Barkbusters on now as with the smaller bar the real estate is minimal. Damnit.

Bike felt good.

Ready for winter.

If you don't have anything yet, and you just want wind protection, there are single-point mounts that attach at the ends of the bars (like bar-end mirrors), but are less stable in a crash or hitting a tree branch/trunk. I also have a couple sets of full-length 2-point Barkbusters if you want to see if they'll actually fit. The bar bends and mounts are for Hypermotard and generic, so may not fit perfectly, but you'll get an idea of space requirements. Usually the bar-mounted side fits at the bend, where most other accessroies don't.

I'll check this weekend if mine fit with the new alignment. If Ken drilled into the low bar then I can't relocate the controls (which he surprisingly put a few inches away from the grips).

If it doesn't fit you can get a steal of a deal for them.

Oh, I see you do have a set. My first paragraph still stands. Also, I have a handlebar drill jig if you want to reposition your controls.

Have done most of the season change over things. Bike will get stabilizer and oil / filter change next week, then be tucked away for the winter season surrounded by mousetraps.

Just had a cracked windshield replaced on my Kia Telluride. Heads up display + lane departure meant OEM windshield vs. 3rd party at the stunning cost of $2,655 with HST............ Using a 3rd party part total would have been $905. My deductable is $1,000, so paying an extra $95 and getting the OEM part and no future tech hassles made it a no brainer. Everything works. If I have needed a camera recalibration it would have been another $226. My last winshield replacement was on a 2013 Legacy @ $325................

Air flow is nice for 95% of the years riding. If cold-protection is the goal just wear nitrile gloves underneath for that 5% of riding that they’re needed.

Or "HotHands" on the back of your hands. They last for hours or days if you store them in a ziplock bag.

I dont know about 5%. Some people are more sensitive to cold hands than others. It also changes as you age (just like everything else). Or at least it did for me - 15 years ago, I could bear riding for hours in 0 degree temps with just my uninsulated leather race gloves. Now I'll use my heated gloves below 13.

Back in the day, I was on a freezing GTAM Streetsville group ride up to Big Chute. When we stopped for a break, one of the guys started smoking with his latex gloves and balaclava on, looking like a crime was being commited.

Agreed. But my hands get cold below 10C or so and once the fingers start going numb…my control of the bike goes to poo.

The heated grips help. But not from the windblast on the hand.

I’ll see if I can fit them on the weekend or during the winter as I don’t plan on riding much more this season.

Yup. Unless the temps are over 25*C, my heated grips are always on at least 50% power. Smallish handguards help quite a bit with the wind, but for me HippoHands are needed for anything approaching 5*C or lower.

I'm with you here.
Anything below 20deg and I like to be wearing my heated gear.
Below 5deg and I'll bust out the heated socks.

Above 20 degrees and I start thinking about a cooling vest. The humidity usually makes it very hot in the summer. My heated vest doesn’t get a lot of use, as below 4, I don’t ride, and above 10 I just wear longjohns and a wooly undershirt.

Edit: I put some more stabil in the tank, put the bike on the centre stand, covered the tailpipe with foil and a ziplock, and put a note on the speedo to remove the ziplock before starting. May hook it up to a tender, clean it later.

I have heated grips on the Tracer GT + I have heated gear, including gloves. Certainly wind breaker type accessories will help to reduce wind chill, but do you have heated gloves? You can't beat a heated grip with heated glove combo.

I found out that if they supply you with a bearing that is 1mm too small it will not fit. I also learned it's best to check the bearing size before packing it with grease.
I gave them the numbers and quoted him the IDs and ODs. I will be returning a greasy bearing.

I do but they ripped slightly.

It’s the Velocity ones from Jimmy but I can’t seem to find a used set in my size.

Not Bike related.....

I was at Costco this morning and they had LED plug in light panels for 40 bucks.

Stripped off the plugs and hard wired them to the garage door opener. Works a treat.

I purchased a bunch of these for the garage and the basement. 3 settings and great value. I think up to 6 of them can be linked together.

After installing a friend's diesel powered heater in his shop building a couple of weeks ago and seeing how well it worked...I ordered one and installed it in my garage.
I can't believe I just now found out these things were... things.

Started up the snowblower. It works.
