Wow, worked hard this long weekend on the property. Sorry no pictures.

Cut all 5 acres.
Cut the chicken pastures (Grass, weeds knee high).
Cut the large pasture Grass, weeds knee high).
Burned a large load of branches from the trees that were cut down.
Scrapped a old trampoline that was in one of the chicken pastures and local scrap guy picked it up.
Built a stand to store fire wood in the garage (no lugging it from barn during the winter)
Put a fix on a barn door. (Need a new hinge)
Planted a small garden (Tomatoes & Peppers)

And re-caulked a bathtub (Until we can afford a remodel)

3 families of geese on our property with a total of 16 goslings, they are providing some good entertainment and fertilizer... LOL

Put close to 10 hours on the tractor this weekend and 0 on the bike.. o_O

Get any ticks from all that? Get your wife to check you carefully. Pulled one off my toddler niece and one off my mom. Gross.

Ticks are mad around here. I’ve lived in Markham for 50+ years, never saw a tick. In the fall, I ran the kids dog they a local woodlot, (Seaton Trail) she picked up 20+ ticks, me 3 of the buggers. Same walk in March, still snow on the ground, the dog picked up a handful of ticks.

Apparently rising temps are slowly extending their range.

Same thing for Opossums, saw my first ever in the yard 3 years ago, now I see them frequently.

Hey Jampy, Any luck getting the wood chipper sorted out for any of those branches or did you just end up burning them all?
I called a company out for an estimate but the price was crazy, so I'm burning them.
At this point I'm about halfway there.

Not a single one, we're actually a little surprised by this.

I’m envious when I visit friends with large acreage , then I return to my current house with a complete hardscaped back and front yard and remember I don’t even own a rake or mower . I miss it , but I’ll get over it .

Never seen a tick in all my life then 4 in the last week. One on me, one under the cats chin, one spotted crawling up our kiddos forehead, and one on the misses.
Don’t know if spraying for them is effective or not.
I keep the area in the surrounding trees clear and this Spring even raked all dead sticks/branches out of it so I can clean it quickly with mower or brush blade. No long grass or bushes in there.

I am surprised I had a few area's with knew high grass and weeds, even had the dog following me while I cut and not a single tick (at least no on us)
Now mosquitoes & cluster flies....

2 yards of garden soil delivered today, we covered it with a tarp as we don't intend to spread it until the weekend.
Did a bit of tractor cleaning, blew off all the grass from the belly mower and clean the grill and air filter from dandelion fuzz...
Then some steaks and baked potato's on the BBQ..

You have an Empire now. There's no leisure time when you're running an Empire :p

Not sure about empire, I'd prefer home.
Working the property is my leisure time.
I enjoy almost all of it, except snow, I've always hated snow... Lol

I’ll book a Saturday or Sunday , your place is the perfect distance and geography for a ride out.

I found mowing on a small tractor very therapeutic, headphones on ( pre ear buds ) big cold drink and and my modified umbrella . Little over 2 acres of lawn , that was mostly short weeds .

Shoot me a DM and I'll provide you with my details.
Always, welcome to bring the wife, kids, dogs whatever. We welcome the visit :)

Country property maintenance is (mostly) wonderful. I love it. It helps not having the city bylaws/neighbours bs so you can do whatever y put wish with your property.
I actually really enjoy blowing snow. The right snowblower or tractor/setup makes all the difference.
Yesterday I got rid of the couple dozen stumps from the trees I cut down recently and then mowed the weeds out from the wooded area. I can get to about 1/3 of the weeds in the trees now with the mower which will help rod the area of poison ivy sooner. It’ll slowly die out if I keep cutting it back.
Body hurting a bit from that. Doing a leg workout now then hitting the trails on the dirtbike because I’m sadistic :)

Agreed, I have a 50" blower and 48" leveler for snow removal on my BX1880 Tractor. I can do my almost 1km driveway in under an hour (depending on conditions, temp etc.) But I still hate snow as it relates to winter... wah wah wah... I'm a big cry baby It just pisses me off... LOL
We only have one neighbor that is close, but they are awesome so no issues at all... I got my FrEEdOmSsssss!!!
