What a Vasectomy is Really Like - Best of Craigslist

Haven't had it yet, but I've assisted on a few... Horrible idea for someone that plans on getting one some day.
Really hard to hide my "This has to hurt" facial expressions so I don't freak the dudes out that are getting it... But not one bit of it looks slightly painless. Dr. Asked if I wanted to take a look at the internal anatomy, normally I'm all up for it but I just wanted to end the guys suffering so I declined extending the ordeal for my educational purposes.

They just do one entry hole now though.

I watched one :p
It's not bad at all. Like zero blood. From a female perspective it seems like nothing. They gave the patients a box of smarties in the care package they sent them home with at the particular clinic we went to. I think the doctor had a sense of humour!

Thank god girls i **** still take birth control

I was seriously flirting with this idea for my 30th birthday...came and went and i figure i'd give kids a little more thought... after reading this, im thinking of just scrapping the knife procedure and getting the new ipad and clocking some serious hours with it on my lap resting on my balls

You wouldn't think it would be that bad... I understand you have 8lbs of screaming kid come ripping from your insides, and with all the fluids and material and screaming that comes out, it sure can't be enjoyable... But this has to be pretty damn close to the same.

I was 5 years old when I got circumcised, and there was no pain management involved with the procedure. I expect this whole vasectomy thing to be a little similar, but not quite to that level. Guess that's why I have a decent pain threshold.

Even then, things can happen... This just makes sure all you'll end up with after is some form of VD

I had set 30 as my cut off date, but I'm getting about a year away from that mark and I'm not even dating anyone... so I think I'll have to pass for a bit longer.

Oh lord. There is no way to compare the two. It was like a joke. There was not even an incision. He used the tiny needle hole through which he administered the local anesthetic to gently probe and then tug the little white spaghetti string tubes out and cut and cauterize. Even my husband at the time was shocked at how non invasive and painless it was. And he is a huge suck. Like I'm talking he cut his finger when he was chopping vegetables and he almost passed out, twice. The worst part he said was having a dude handling his balls and touching his wang. He said it was humiliating and sore but that was the worst of it. I get that the area is way more sensitive on men, but it's really not that bad, from what I have witnessed and heard from people who I know who have had it done.

I've heard of it being done this way... I'll pay to do it off base just to have it done like that when the time comes... Here they do the single incision, and pull one tube out, do the job and pull the next one out, couple of stitches and it's done.

well, that doesn't sound SO bad. I've had a cystoscopy done before and another one with a balloon and dye so by comparison this sounds like a walk in the park.

Okay boys, it is the "Gentle Vasectomy Clinic". Forget where because it was 4 yrs ago but I think it was Peterborough. And hey, free smarties ;)

+1 big time

The waiting for it to hurt was the worst thing because it never came. Some discomfort, but man that guy in that write up needs to hand over his man card. Haha

It's all fun and games until the stitches get infected.

The only part of the procedure that hurts is the needle for freezing. Hurt like a bastard when it went in each testicle, the rest or it isn't bad at all.

They tell you not to do any physical activity for a few days afterwards. I had mine done on a Friday afternoon and thought that I was good to mow the lawn on Sunday. I didn't realize how much balls move when pushing a mower, I was in pain for the rest of the day.

some people just can't handle Pain ...... I am a PRO at passing kidney stones now that hurts.

I agree with all of this. It's not a big deal, but it is in the days afterward when you realize how much the boys move (even with a jock on).

Funny story. I was the first appointment of the day, empty waiting room, peace & quiet. After I had it done, I came out, closed the door to the operating room, and there were 3 guys waiting for their appointments. They all looked at me with wide eyes / terror as I came out.

I did my best to reassure them that it was no big deal, and went off to get changed.

Only then did I realize that the peroxide or whatever liquid the doc used to sanitize the area has a definite orange/brown colour and it had been applied liberally, soaking the back of my gown. The other guys in the waiting room must have thought that I **** myself during the procedure ...

I've had it done, 10 min and he was done.
I felt nothing at all till maybe 2 hours after the procedure on the way home, then it became very uncomfortable.
I was at work the next day, but it felt like a steady kick to the junk for about a week after the procedure.
Besides that pretty much a painless and effortless thing to do.
Plus you can't buy that kind of insurance anywhere else ;).

it is no big deal, went, quick in out Friday, Saturday was spent with a bag of peas, Sunday I was out golfing
