What a double standard.

I swear, when I was 17 if I was noisy a minute past 11pm, the cops would be knocking on my door.

Last night and tonight I have a neighbour (~86 Ceremonial Dr., Mississauga) who is having a wedding or something, cops have been called, but nothing is being done, even at 2:10am. I think the party is Indian... but what do I know... all I know is they have zero respect for their neighbours.

I am planning on visiting them at 5 or 6am to let them know they are a bunch of a-holes.

making noise on a Thursday is a no no. You'd expect it more on a Friday or Saturday as fewer people go to work the next day.

I didn't really care last night, as they ended at 1am and I am on vacation anyway, but tonight is worse... loud crappy music and already 2:30am. I already called the cops on them, but that hasn't solved anything yet.

It's not even really the noise, do people really have no respect for their neighbours? Do they not think 'I wonder if this loud annoying music is bothering anyone?" If you want to live with total disregard for others, buy a house out in the country!

I politely asked a neighbour to do something about their yappy dog. I was told it was my fault for being in my own back yard. General ignorance is rampant.

Once many years ago this happened with a student apartment above mine. They were having a party so I walked in and removed their fuses from the main fuse box.

I host a house party once or twice a year. Always talk to my neighours to give them a heads up, always invite them to attend. A little chit chat about what's going on, who's working, what's going on that weekend, is there a wedding, is someone working afternoons or the late shift etc.

When I find out the timing isn't all that great and suggest having it another time or something, I'm always told not to worry about it, have fun etc.

Then when I see the person next time, I try to acknowledge my appreciation and concern for being loud etc. The only response I get is the regret they couldn't attend themselves.

A little courtesy goes a long way. And not abusing it by partying every weekend.

Don't call the police, go to the station, explain you already called and nothing was done, then ask for a supervisor to go out and do something about it.

When you've called the cops, did they actually say that they'd be attending? I know that a noise complaint is pretty low on their priority list, but c'mon....

I used to live in a townhouse complex, so the units were tightly sandwiched together. You could practically hear someone fart on the other side of the neighbourhood. Once a year a neighbour across from my 'backyard' would have an outdoor party that would go on until at least 3am. I was always tempted to go and tell them off, or call the cops, but then I figured being loud once a year isn't something to get overly dramatic about. But it still seems extremely disrespectful - if I ever have a party, I generally move people inside after 11-ish. A lot of people work, even on weekends. Maybe I'm an overly concerned wuss, but I can't hang around outside acting like a drunk moron having fun without thinking about royally pissing off all the neighbours.

OP, just thought of another thing - complain to your local city councillor. Nothing gets the cops/public services moving like a directive from a politician.

If its a wedding, they're probably drunk as fark. They don't have a wedding everyday. I would say let them have their day. Yeah they're inconsiderate but I wouldn't ruin their day just to tell them they're being a-holes. Thats just me.

If they're inconsiderate on a regular basis, thats a different story.

GTAM Meet & Pyro party @ the OP's place.

It is some kind of an Indian wedding or something that lasts a few days. The house has a huge tent setup in the backyard and the party has been going on since Thursday.

Just after my last post at 2:30am this morning, the music shut off suddenly and a few minutes later I saw a Peel Police car cruising around the neighbourhood, so they did respond. There is no way that my complaint was the only one though, as my house is about 200m from the party house and I could hear the music clearly through my closed windows and doors -- no doubt the neighbours that are closer got even more of an earful (but maybe they were invited to the party).

I had a noisy neighbour a few years ago when I lived in downtown TO. She would play loud music and party until 2 or 3 on a semi-regular basis. Talking to her didn't help so I returned the favour. Knowing she was up until 3 or 4 partying, when I got up at 7, I turned my stereo speakers towards her place, then put the song Amazing Grace on repeat at a very high volume for 1 hour until I had to leave. Never had a problem after that. :D

lol also my favorite. Seems like the cops thinks if its not a murder or writing tickets for riders, its not worth bothering with. yet, all these little issue can be annoying as hell. good call. If you want something done right and wuick, sometimes you have to get your own hands dirty ;)

Noisy neighbours everywhere, one of mine cut the lawn at 6 am on a Saturday morning, I yelled at him from my bedroom window, told him to start at 5 next time, more convenient for me (NOT). No problem since :)

Also time for OP to get the loudest exhaust for his bike that he can find and warm up his bike for 10 minutes before he goes for 4 am morning rides.

Or simply remove the exhaust.. open headers make a heck of a racket....

If it is a Indian wedding be thankful its only been a few days because usually it last for 2 weeks straight! I know from experience
