Wet streetcar tracks

Hey people,

I was out today and got caught it the rain

About a block from home I slowed for a red, when it turned green my rear tire was on a wet rail, the rear tire spun up, kicked out sideways and bang, low side!

I am so upset with myself, I should know better.

I was being super careful the whole ride crossed many, many wet rails. I just lost focus for a split second, was not thinking where my rear tire might be.

Generally crossing rails I never throttle or brake, NEVER. Also upright the bike as much as possible over rails if turning in the wet.

I can't blame anybody but me. I've been riding 30 years and still made this mistake.

New riders beware, wet rails are super dangerous, like ice. Old riders, don't forget!

Have a nice day!

Sorry to hear... Hope you get it fixed soon.. Same happened to me last year.. Greased tracks and rain don't mix

Not that it really matters but what do you ride?

Thanks for sharing.
I have had a close call riding on street car tracks a while ago. Have been staying away from them ever since.
Glad you are ok.

**** happens, homes.... brush it off...

750 SRAD

No major damage, clip on broke and footrest hanger broke, some scratches and small crack in plastic. Easily fixable at home.

Ya, it's brushed off, what else can I do. I'm not bitching, just warning others of something dangerous that sure bit me.
Thanks guys,

Hey Alex,

Hope that the damage is not expensive to repair.

I had the same scenario after just a light rain in the east of the GTA.... it happened so fast that I was sitting on the asphalt and still trying to figure out where I went wrong. In my case just a bit too heavy on the rear brake, next I knew I was looking at my bikes headlight. No streetcar tracks involved but fresh "rained on" asphalt. Happened 8 years ago. Learn from your mistakes. We can preach here but it is time in the saddle that cures most...

Take care out there. Glad to see that you were not injured.

On the upside, that's a easy way to learn to do burnouts.

I had the same thing happen to me about five years ago. It was my first year riding, and thankfully it was just a kawi 250.

Learned my lesson quick!

Next time, feather the clutch and slowly move off the tracks. Stupid mistake but we have all been there at one point or another. Glad there wasn't any major damage and it seems like you're doing well by the sound of things. Just take it easy and hope you learned something out of the experience.

Keep the shiny side up, boys and girls.

Coming back from a ride November of last year, it was night time, cold and raining I just crossed the tracks (lakeshore rd) and had a massive tank slapper, thought I was going down but held it...

Last ride of the year for me.

ebay is my friend;) 180 bucks for parts plus the plastic repair which can wait.

HaHa exactly, on my butt before I knew where I went wrong.

I was slowly rolling so I did not think to use the clutch, just went super light on the throttle, with the rear on a track it does not matter how conservative you are, slippery as hell.

I'm fine, thanks people.
