Wendy's is really losing the plot. No mustard? WTF!

I only go to Wendy's for the Frosty and chilli.

I can tell you for sure that the Frosty has not changed. The Frosty mix I was delivering up until last year was the same freaking stuff I was putting into the Frosty machine back in the 1980s.

The Chilli was a brilliant idea. The burgers back in the day were always freshly made each day and there were always "three stages of meat" on the grill. Cooked, half-cooked, and raw (just went onto the grill). At some point there would always be a burger or two that were going to be overcooked if you left it on the grill. Rather than throw it out or put into a heater to be served later on the burger got put into a container. These unserved burgers got boiled up and chopped up and consequently into a chilli. Chilli was made daily using the burgers that did not make it off the grill onto a bun the previous day. Brilliant thought by Mr. Thomas back in the day. He figured out a way to always have burgers literally cooked to perfection and put onto a bun. While this would normally lead to waste he was able to make a (for the time) unique menu item from what could have been wasted product. Kid's burgers at the time came from the same pattys. We simply chopped about 1/4 of the burger which went to the next day's chilli meat.

Today they burgers come in two boxes. One is the "regular" and the other is the value version. The value version is not only smaller; but thinner as well. It has essentially become a McDonald's hamburger.

No more sesame seed bun. Back in the day we had these nice steamers over the grill that the buns went along on a conveyor of sorts. The buns were fresh too; not frozen like today.

For the folks talking about A&W. I find their smaller "buddy" burgers to be excellent.

Lol. Man, some of the things you guys complain about can't even be made up. Anyways, who goes to Wendy's or Mcdonalds for a burger? It's all about Five Guys, Johnny's and the like. Even Dairy Queen burgers are good.

LOL, who give culinary advice at a crime scene?

You realize this is a Canadian website, right?

I like A&W because I always ordered the "Animal Burger" all the time when I lived out west, it consists of 7 patties in a bun, it's not on the menu but if you ask for it they might make it if they know what it is here in Ontario!

Johnny's has had its day, and that day came in the late 80s. They are frozen patties now too. I gave it another try a year or two ago and I swear it was freezer burnt.

Baldwin street burger. The turkey burger is even delicious. Next trip out to the Durham Regions should include a stop there

I love A&W as well. When I feel like making the drive, I'll go to South St. Burger. There's one at Argentia and Winston Churchill. It's owned by New York Fries. Burgers are amazing. I'll also go to Hero Burger in a pinch. I find The WORKS Burger to be way too greasy.

I had not heard of the Five Guys before, just saw one last week. Their stuff must be good, it's got some wonderfully high fat content in it. 9g of fat in the bun by itself! Yums

Fat is flavour! Sugar is the enemy, not fat.

They do you just have to ask for the "animal"!

Fast Eddies lmao! I lived in Brantford when they opened, used to go there and buy a bag of $0.25 burgers. Of course that was in high school.

+1

Everytime i've gone there, it's always been good!

Agreed, as long as your carb intake is low.

And further on the burgers, since we're bringing in Baldwin Street Burger and Five Guys and the like, i'm surprised Burgers Priest and Holy Chuck's haven't been mentioned.

And i've heard P&L burger is really good.
