So,
I met up with a fellow G.T.A. member at Clappison's Corners near Hamilton and then decided to head up to see Jimmy at Velocity. Since I had my cage and there was a Wendy's I figured I would grab some drive through to eat on my way to Velocity. Order up and want my usual Lettuce, onion, ketchup and mustard. I was told they do not have mustard! No kidding!
I should qualify this. They do have mustard but they do not have it to put on your burger for you. If you want mustard on your sandwich they are nice enough to put some mustard packages in your bag for you. So... I have to take the burger apart, open a packet, put it on the burger and hope I do not get mustard on myself, and go from there. I asked them what the deal was and they said that they did not sell enough mustard to make sense to order it in bulk so they went to packets.
From a customer point of view I think this is really stupid. Any older/senior customer with arthritis may have trouble opening the packet to get at the mustard and... from an environmental point of view it is a total waste. I said to just give me one mustard packet but of course they put in three. So, that is three packets in land fill where there would be no landfill/garbage issue if they just had bulk mustard like any other restaurant.
I used to deliver to this Wendy's before I left trucking and went to driving a bus instead. It was not that long ago so I have to wonder if this is at all Wendy's or just this one location? Either way it is really goofy and I think I will go back to eating at Harveys where I can actually order my burger the way I want it and it will come the way I want it.
I worked at a Wendy's back in the 1980s and remember the pride that went into the food when. Now, the buns come frozen from Ohio, Schneiders meat is not longer used (comes from Cargill), and lots of stuff is frozen now which used to be fresh. Since Dave died and his daughter sold the business it is really going downhill. It might not die like Lick's Burgers; but it is fast going to the Fast Eddie/McDonald's end of the spectrum where before it was one of the best fast food experiences you could get. Sad to see what was a great chain going downhill so badly.
