I took the Hyundai Sante Fe in to the dealer for an oil change and summer tires put on.

All was well except they noted that my left front plastic inner fender was missing. Gone, clean as a whistle.

I can't fathom anyone stealing a $100 part and there were no bits left to indicate it got hung up on something and ripped off. With covid it's usually in the garage except for short stops at the grocery store.

The service rep said catalytic converters are usually the target, cut off in a few minutes by a battery sawzall. Car badges are also a target.

I don’t think people are stealing sante fe emblems

I had my sportage in for an oil change and when i got it back i noticed the front factory mud guard cracked. I suspect it was done by the tech kicking the hoist under the car to lift it

Way back when VW beetles have Wolfsburg badges on the hoods, held on by two bent tabs. A quick flick of a jackknife and you had an adornment for a leather belt or jacket.

Priced any LED headlights lately? Damn

Wow, i had one replaced under warranty. Started to get condensation inside

Back in the 70s it wasn't uncommon to find your VWs engine gone. A few bolts and a strong friend, gone.

Catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters are stolen all the time. Never hear much about emblems but I imagine some do.

I wish someone would steal my DPF on my motor home, give me an excuse to straight pipe it and add a tuner

I would guess you probably picked up some debris that took it out, happens pretty often. Who knows though
