We have eachother's backs.

+1

Cager or motorcyclist, I HATE those people.

You don't have to follow, but don't have to block either. It takes 2 lane changes let through all the people behind you, and your on the left lane again.

edit: Not saying mid-east gets any better, but India is part of Asia =) GEO101

Uhhhh... in heavy traffic?? No.

On surface streets, at rush hr, 4 lanes of two way traffic on a non-residential road , lined on both sides with car dealers, plazas, restaurants, hotels, gas stations. People are continuously turning right or left into the business they are seeking. I am afraid that lane discipline is impossible. You expect someone to stay right, even if they intend to make a left turn into Stand'n'Tan in half a block?

Good job, although there are some bikers who ride the same way behind us cagers. Had a younger guy on a Harley weaving behind me, right on my bumper. I could see him going in my mirror to mirror trying to get out in front of me in a notorious radar'd 50 zone. He was blocked in by me and another vehicle doing the limit. When he did get the chance he cut me off riding the dotted line with his bars almost taking my mirrors off.

Good job OP!

Good for you he deserved it. But do that to the wrong person and you might not of been as lucky. Now a days teenagers carry guns. You just never know. Ok maybe not Branford but Brampton.

People can afford guns there? I'm surprised.

Good on ya Omni. I will nod at a cager if I see lots of stickers on the vehicle indicating they are into bikes.

Had a woman cut me off on Don Mills Fri. I was in the diamond lane going north and this woman just pulls into it from the side street. I was already going at speed part way thru the intersection, so squeezed between her front bumper and a blue car in the right lane sounding my horn the whole time. Thought I scared the blue car driver as they were honking too. Pulled off a few blocks later to put on rain gear and the blue car pulls up beside me. Thought they were gonna say something negative, but turns out she honking at the idiot woman too. She saw the whole thing. Turns out she had a family member that died in a MC accident and was checking if I was ok.

If you are turning shortly, no. If you are not turning left sometime soon and want to drive at the ridiculous 30-40 kph limit of Toronto or below, stay to the right and let people go a little quicker on the left. Of course this is assuming people drive properly and start signaling or at least lightly braking before their turn instead of just slamming their brakes all of a sudden (dangerous to those speeders behind them) which will never happen.

Good job Omnivore. :)
Where are you when I need you ;-)

Not in Brantford where he was at that time of day... It's speed limit if you're lucky and get in the lane you're going to need to be in for your turn in 2 blocks. Nobody is going to get anywhere faster than anyone else, just how it is.
Good job on the OP. I've gotten in behind bikes to prevent people tailgating them in heavy traffic, and pulled to the left of the lane at a stop to allow the bike behind me to make it pass my truck and turn right.

The couple of times I've chased cars down to have a talk with the drivers, I've always gotten the same "sorry, sorry" reaction.

This just it - some people need to be reminded of common rules and courtesy to others, others need to be screamed at. Great post and even better story.

perhaps it's time for a first sticker to go on a cage.

Agreed. definitely getting sticker on the cage.
when i see riders being pushed around i always switch lanes directly behind the rider to create a buffer and push the traffic back, displaying proper distance must be kept from MC. Riders being as polite as they are, i usually get a wave of thank you.

Riding in Canada is really just starting to take off with HWY MTO boards just now warning drivers to look out for motorcycles. As the volume of riders goes up, let's hope there will be more support from the police and better awareness through driving schools and media.

also, great lesson for all riders to support one another when on the road.

i think next on the list is the TXT messagers... more dangerous than any speeder.

inspiring post everyone. thank you.
