She didn't Crash her car. Just drove into a small ditch at the side of the road. The turn I was making was into Kirby side road east. She must have continued straight on Jane north and gone east on king Vaughan. When I was her again it was at Bathurst and king Vaughan.
When I'm on the bike, I'm always checking my mirrors, even at traffic lights and stops.
One time on University Ave southbound stopped at Queen, I saw this car coming up fast from behind. Then a split second later, I heard tire squeeching. I had to pop my bike forward into the pedestrian crossing to avoid getting hit from behind.
My personal habit is always have the bike in gear and clutch in at stops. Never in neutral.
I was almost rear ended near Kipling and 401 on Saturday.
I stopped for a yellow, guy in a mini van behind me thought I would run it. I heard screeching tires so I accelerated up another 15 feet. The van skidded and swerved partially right and it was halfway in my lane and the right hand turn lane, exactly where I would have been had I not moved forward.
You seem to have done everything correctly while she did everything wrong. But after not killing you, while in the wrong, could you not have pulled over to check on her. Or if you wanted, have a chat?
i know it seemed like it was all her fault, i was not there so i can't really pas any judgement on anything. but after seeing her in the tiny ditch, did you not stop infront of her car and ask if she was okay? or atleast tell her politely say that driving distracted is a very big risk, not only to her but to others on the road?
I couldn't agree more with this. Sometimes I'll be driving around and wonder how half the people on the road even have licenses/even know how to turn on a car....
The video decimi linked is pretty scary, I'm sure this type of thing happens all too often.
Wow, she was lucky no other accidents happened while she was driving in that state of emotional turmoil for 10 minutes. I normally check my six as I stop but don't regularly check after being stopped. Need to get into the habit of doing that.

I needed to turn left on the first street after an intersection (the street is fairing close to the intersection as well).
I signal to turn left as soon as a crossed the intersection (so so the cars behind me is aware and they can move to the right lane), and I gradually slow down enough so I can make a left turn over the streetcar tracks safety.
Suddenly, I heard the car behind me brake enough that her brake squeaked.
Sometimes I wonder if I need to get brighter rear turn signal bulbs or something. I don't want to take a chance for someone to rear end me
Anyone here replaced their rear turn signal bulbs with something stronger/brighter? Recommendations?
